It's because he has no movement around him. Pepe is nowhere to be found, Esti hugging the left. Matri gets the ball and the defense collapses on him. The movement around Matri needs to pull defenders away, open up some holes.

Yeah. Pepe is an O K player when he is used as a winger running deep. Used elsewhere and he's sort of average at best. For all Pepe lovers. I'm not saying Pepe is awful, I'm just saying he needs strong restrictions to prosper.

I understand that Conte wants two wingbacks to control their flanks and handle Armero and their Krasic. But I don't really see why we are fielding wingers like Pepe in positions he doesn't work in. Having workrate doesn't mean that you can play in the middle. I don't see why we so desperately are fielding Bonucci. If we are not using a LB then there's no reason to field him.

Right now however my wish list for HT is to swap Matri. Feels like we are laughing in DP and Quagmire's face when we're fielding a Matri that is so obviously out of form since the past month.
