To all of those wondering what Burke is talking about, I suggest you refer back to the last 1000 pages of Nick's thread and notice the decline in meaningful discussion over the past few months and increase in utter worthlessness. We lost a couple good members due to people posting crap in Nick's thread day after day...turning the thread into a chatroom itself (if thats what you're talking about Sebi). Whether people are somewhat disgruntled by this request is not exactly of our concern and there are no worthy arguments to combat these opinions of ours because that's just the way it is. You can go on and on about how all threads should be open to everyone or how its unfair to lock people out or whatever other nonsense, however the thread's creator should have the power to do what he wants with it, of course keeping within the guidelines of the forum. I have indeed read the rules and there is no mention of prohibiting the motion to create a thread which is only open to a few individuals. Therefore, the calls for a password protected thread are not only allowed but also justified.

This is by all means no offense to any member here. However, if you feel a bit upset, I suggest you follow Azzurri7's suggestion and

SOAP IT.

If you wanna lock Nick's thread, go do it.
I don't have a problem with that at all.

    Your elitist society? :lol2:

If you think so highly of yourself, why don't you get out of your chair and join the fucking free masons :eyebrows:

Marty doesn't operate a forum privately for you and your friends, he operates a public forum on the internet, which everyone can access. That is the basic idea of a forum, whereas private discussions tend to take place on more private platforms, such as MSN or yahoo groups. If he wants to grant you your little village then fine, but I think it's a load of crap that you want to convert a public discussion board into a private one, when you have absolutely nothing to do with the management and financing of the site. I'm not argueing to keep my place, I'll stop posting there right now if you want, I'm just pointing out that it's pathetic what you want to do with something you really have no ownership over

You rep a member for simply agreeing with you, then you try to tell me i should respect your opinions because you have more rep than me?

You are the definition of hypocrite.

You're one hell of a guy Seb.
Would rep you some more if the site allowed it.

I must also add that I do not hate you Bombardier, I really don't..
But the kid here is making such a valid point and to me it seemed you only "barged in" looking to cause trouble.

Even though The Real World is like that, we must not discourage those pure at heart and have them conform to it!

What, preaching drug awareness then sucking off a dude for some rock? How does that justify anything, it's just another pathetic excuse for something you can't back up at all.

Freedom of speech...freedom to participate...freedom of the thread creator to make the thread into something he wants if and only if it falls under the rules and regulations of the forum...freedom of speech to request such a thread on the basis of decline in discussion and overall deterioration...freedom of speech to request such a thread even though I'm not the owner of the site...freedom of speech indeed.

This forum is indeed open to everyone and thats the way it should be. However, for the purpose of haulting the deterioration of said thread and reviving some former members, I think this request is justified. You can disagree with me or not.

What about my freedom of speech to post in that thread?

Obviously I understand why you want it password protected, and that the forum is indeed become a swarming pool of people who punch their caring parents in the face, but it just seems way too hypocritical to be realistic. Freedom of speech to ask for the thread.....that will detract from other's freedom of speech? How does that make any sense?

That's like saying "i have the right to safety, so i have to kill my neighbor who might kill me."

Well I have chosen to disagree.
