Sounds like Syrahs and Shiraz would be your thing, not to mention Zinfandels.
I've come around to appreciating pinot noir most these days, but more for subtlety than anything else.
We've only just started branching out to the Zinfandels, and have found some really nice ones. I wish I had given more thought to them earlier.
I am sometimes put off of Syrah because they can be hit and miss for me. But that, I think, is often down to the quality of what we can afford here. It was much easier to find a good, cheap wine in Europe.
