I have a friend who studies Arabic and I've tried to learn it a bit, but it's just not for me. Not that I don't like it or anything, I just really suck at it

I don't see the structure in the language. As a kid I spoke Tumbuka (a Zambian language), which is very different from western languages as well though. But still, I don't "see" Arabic, even if that sounds kind of stupid.

It is a tough language though. I'm actually better in English than i am in Arabic.

Yeah, we lived in Zambia for a couple of years. My mother and father worked there as doctors.
The funny thing is that I tended to use some words from the Tumbuka language till I was fifteen or something. I only realised that Ihwe (don't know how it's written, but it sounds like that and means "come over here") wasn't Dutch when I was twelve.
To tell you the truth I really want to go back to Zambia, but most people recommend against it.

The proper thing to ask is if he lived in ZAMBIA!

Nothing against you in particular in this case, but EVERYONE casually say or mention africa, when they very well know they are referring to a specific country, and could, but still doesnt. Like saying just africa is more understandable when referring to one of its countries That its one tiny village out in the wilderness so it doesnt make any difference :groan: And not an insanely diverse continent with 2000 languages and over 50 countries with many differences

Arabic is the 2nd toughest language ... 80 percent of arabs dont even know 75% of the entire language...that goes to show you its vastness...
