Yeah, this is my issue with women's football. I think for it to be even remotely interesting, professional female football players should at least be better than amateur male players.

For a professional female athlete to be interesting, she should be doing stuff which is beyond an ordinary male or female, and at least pretty hard to reach for a male competing.


This is why women in olympic and powerlifting are so great. Insanely male domminated sport. But the elite females, kick the shit out of anyone not elite, and will rank nicely when mixed.

Women football is not totally new. They were training a lot in the past too, but it just wasn't explosed as much.

And it's never going to change. They are simply bad at it and like in majority of the sports, if not all, they will show less than men.

Watching women football is funny if anything. It's just funny how bad they are, it's like the ball is an object from another planet and they are being careful with it.

This doesn't make sense. Shouldn't MLS be on the same level as La Liga then according to this logic? Afterall, the United States has had a national team since the late 1800s, so "they were training a lot in the past" without the exposure as well.

I don't see any reason why woman football would be more entertaining in the future. As far as I can see, I see progress. All aspects of the game is improving and mainly because there is more money involved so they train more. Yes, the pros can commit full-time to practice but that is not the case for most of their careers. In comparison, young teenage boys can practice full-time, while many women footballers can do that fairly late in their career (if at all, and most of the case it doesn't happen). So - yes - the quality is less but it is like expecting me to suddenly become Messi, or let's take Tacchinardi, over a year of practice. It could never happen.

I don't want to go into the discussion about physical differences because that is irrelevant. That being said I expect there will always be a difference but with more full-time professionals from younger age I expect the differences to decline. I still think women football can and will improve as it already has. In particular when it comes to technique. In any case I don't think comparisons is particularly interesting, that is not really the point. The point is entertainment and equality, that's it.

Regarding sex: Yes, sex sells, but that doesn't justify anything. We can see the world for what it is and accept that, or we can see it for what it could be and work towards equality. Football is a very tiny teeny mo in that regards, but it is still part of the chess game.
