I would love Samuel, no doubt about it.

But another DM or CM is not gonna happen, Tiago and Almiron are gonna be the midfield duo and I believe in them. We still have Zanetti who can offer that little defensive assurance when needed. Nocerino is young and I hope he gets his fair share of playing time next season but only in the mind of loonykart will he be a starter next season, while Tiago is on the bench.

You're saying we're ineffective after just one game? We created lots of good chances yesterday but we were unlucky, that's the bottom line. Yes this is a different Juve, complete opposite from last season like you said, but who says it can't work? What I saw yesterday in the first half put a smile on my face. I was really enjoying our midfield, especialy Almiron who reminds of Veron and Marchionni was very dangerous playing on the left side and cutting inside the middle. Tiago will start playing I'm certain and I don't see the point in criticising him yet.

I do agree we need another quality CB to partner Andrade though.

That's true but defenses take most time to gel, let's not start to panic just yet.

Iaquinta was played out of position and was very bad, he was also a little cheap in the first 20 minutes, trying to shoot instead of passing to a better positioned player. Trez was played as a lone striker and I didn't like that, too little balls went his way and he was invisible throughout the game. Most of our attack were coming from the flanks with too little crosses coming towards Trez. I'd prefer DP-Trez of course, maybe against Hamburg if the former gets fit.

I have seen both Tiago and Almiron play on numerous occasions. Setanta shows a ton of Lyon games and I watch Serie A religiously. I clarified my point in the previous post... Tiago and Almiron are both average defenders at best and in front of an average defense it is not going to work. We need a destroyer out there. I am hardly a football novice, but if that is how you need to justify your point go ahead.

Your second paragraph displays how truly young and ignorant you are. I am definately not a telemarketer and although I make more that 35k I would never scoff at someone who did. Don't try to act like you sit on your deck and go on your lap top with a "Corona". That is a poor attempt at trying to sound cool. Nocerino would work and Chiellini would work too. However, I would rather see us pick up 1 CB that is good. I just don't see us having the ability to pick up a truly class CB right now.

Hey guys, be patient we have a new squad and it will take time to get them to blend together. Don't judge anyone on a friendly against a team that has to start way sooner. We have work to do but we have time to do so. Besides we played well and created a lot, only failed to score cuz their goalie was really good.
The way we played was much more important then the result.

Oh please. Carroll put in a harsh tackle there as well. Had Buffon gone for the ball, he would have come out injured. I'm not saying it wasn't a foul, it obviously was, but you can't compare this to the Schumacher case at all. It was a very sensible decision of Buffon not to for the ball here.

Besides, I was under the impression the English like to call the Italians crybabies. If you talk the talk, you have to walk the walk.

You say Tiago does everything well. I think he does everything. I choose to leave out the well because he does everything to a degree but only few things to a really high standard. Being so well-rounded is what makes him a good solid midfield player but he doesn't tackle as well as Zanetti or Nocerino or pass as well as Almiron so in the end what's the point of being able to do everything decently when imo we need a specialist. Tiago was great at Lyon because he had Diarra, someone great at the defending aspect of a midfielder, and Juninho, someone great at the attacking aspect of a midfielder, playing next to him.

As for that thing about respect, cheaters don't really deserve it which is why I stand by Cannavaro.

That would be the ideal situation, but I do have my doubts about Heinze. He is decent in the EPL, but he did get worked pretty badly agianst Milan. He also wasn't so hot in Coppa. Defensively at least.

Although you are biased to Italian football, I think you know about this sport much more than Andy. I always read your posts from the 1st to the last paragraph.

if heinze never comes chiellini would be the best if not the only option to partner Andrade . I would also prefer if chiellini played as a cb rather than a left back . His style of play suits that of a cb more .

I would like to add that I don´t know why is Ranieri putting Iaquinta on the wing. Iaquinta´s physical attributes make him a good centre forward, and nothing else. Right wing is definitely reserved for Camoranesi with Marchionni rotating with him.

he didnt have the best of seasons last season, but you cant judge him on that alone. When this guy is on form, he really excels. He proved that at PSG and also in his 1st season at Man Utd. He needs to regain his confidence, and by leaving Man Utd im sure he will go back to the Heinze he used to be.

I agree totally. I would not want to see Heinze in the central defense. He is better on the left. And definately better than Molinaro, who is much better than he showed, but definately needs time to mature more. He really demonstrated how tough it is to play for high profile teams.

Iaquinta did well on the wing in the WC. Personally, I think Iaquinta is better off as a lone striker, as a direct sub for Trez or partnering Trez with a trequarista behind them in a diamond midfield.
