Pires will want a rotation, he just wants a lucrative contract for another 3 years to ensure his retirement (i guess). He won't mind rotating, he knows he has past the age where first team is everything. That is usually when players are still young and need experience and exposure to more lucrative contracts.

Pires Postpones Contract Talks
7/28/2005 3:31:00 PM
Robert Pires has decided to put off any further contract talks with Arsenal until early in the New Year.
The French winger is in the last year of his contract, but due to his age the Gunners are only prepared to offer his a one-year extension, while the 32-year-old has been demanding a two-year deal.

"We’ll talk again in January," he said. "There is nothing new about my contract situation and things are not going to change now.

"I’m going to play through the last year of my contract and I’ll meet with manager Arsene Wenger early in the New Year.

"That will be the source of motivation for me in the months before then.

"I’m going to be in the same position as Dennis Bergkamp has been in for some years."

Juventus and Galatasaray have both been linked with the player this summer.
