Interesting choice if true, looks like he’s been Benfica SD since 2021 and overseen much of the major sales they did over the last years(with many of them having been also purchased and/or promoted under his tenure), obviously not that Benfica were doing all that worst in that sense beforehand either though, but still seems like a rather competent option.

Rui Pedro Braz, a new candidate for the sporting director role at #Juventus, he holds a degree in Social Communication, a Master's degree in Communication and Leadership and an MBA in Sporting Management. He started his management career as the secretary of #Benfica Futsal, then he took on the role of sport commentator for more than 10 years, before taking on the role of sporting director at #Benfica for 4 years. His exit from the Portuguese club will be ratified before the election of the new board scheduled in October.

Most of Benfica fans hate Braz, and hold him responsible for poor negotiation skills. Apparently they believe they could have got Rios a few million cheaper but as Braz is leaving he wanted to go out with a bang and sign Richard Rios at the asking price immediately. Braz has a TV celebrity status, more on tv and less doing what sporting director does.

Juventus is delighted to announce the arrival of Darren Burgess, who will take on the role of Director of Performance. He will work closely with Damien Comolli, Giorgio Chiellini, François Modesto, Igor Tudor and across all the technical areas and every age group of the Club to form a high-level team dedicated to promoting excellence in performance, innovation and athlete wellbeing.
Born in Australia, Darren is recognised and respected as one of the world's leading performance managers, bringing with him over 25 years of international experience in sports leadership.
The highlights of his career include his work on injury prevention, supervision of the medical and performance department in all its aspects – fitness, nutrition, rehabilitation, psychology and recovery for both men and women – and innovation in talent development.
Throughout his career, Darren has made significant contributions through his work both in Europe (at Liverpool and Arsenal, for example, working actively in injury prevention) and across the globe, including consulting with clubs in the NFL and NBA (his most recent collaboration being in Australia with Adelaide Football Club).
Darren's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Sports Science from the University of New South Wales, a PhD in Talent Development and a Master's degree in Sports Management (currently in progress). He is a highly sought-after speaker, author of industry publications and a leader in the development of operational staff culture and high-performance environments.
He is currently a high-performance consultant for FIFPRO and sits on the advisory boards of Traits Insights, PEAQ High Performance and Telos Performance Partners.
Darren's appointment – he will begin working with Juventus once the necessary international paperwork has been completed – marks a significant step forward in Juventus' commitment to excellence in performance, innovation and the well-being of its athletes.
