Our primevara players are very old compared that of some teams.
Milan primavera, for example, who won Primavera Coppa Italia this year, has Verdi, Berretta and some other players, most born in 92 and 91; Genoa primavera who won Coppa Italia last year has El Shaarawy (born in 92), Polenta (92), Perin (92), Boakye (93) as their key players. Brescia, who beat us on 1/8 has their goalkeeper Leali born in 93 (I don't know much of their other players); Fiorentina has most of their players born in 92 and 93; This year, Roma's youth team players born in 91 have already been playing in Serie B (For example, D'Alessandro and some other defenders that I can't remember the names now). There are some other Primavera teams that I don't know much about, like that of Palermo (Campeon de Primavera of last year).
Most of our Primavera players are born in 90 (Immobile and Iago, for instance, born in early 90, nearly 89), some few in 91. The only 92 Libertazzi is not a starting player.
As to the age issue, Foti scored like crazy when he was with Sampdoria Primavera team early this year. Any Serie A adult player can be "fenomenal" in Primavera level. Even a team formed by Serie D players has won several Primavera teams this year in Viareggio. So is Immobile really that great scoring goals as an early born 90?.
The best archivement our Primavera team gained in recent years was when we had Criscito, Giovinco and Marchisio (Campeon de Primavera and Coppa Italia). Last last time when we won Campeon de Primavera was 1993 when Del Piero was on our Primavera team for his first year in Juve.
We won two Viareggios these two years, but Viareggio isn't as important as Campeon de Primavera and Coppa Italia and we don't face any strong team in this year's Viareggio. We are out in the latter two competitions in both years.
In the end in recent years even with a huge age advantage, we don't archieve better than those other teams.
For this reason, I have doubt about the talent of our Primavera players. They may be decent players but hardly as talent as some expected them to be. Our best Primveara team in recent years produced Criscito, Marchisio, Gioivinco and De Ceglie, who were good U-21 players and some may be decent National material. We have seen De Ceglie enough, one of the better Primavera players from one of the best Primavera teams. But the recent bunch didn't go as far as De Ceglie&Co.
I also find that these coaches of Italian U-17, U-19 and U-21 teams hardly call our players (sometimes, some are called for one traning session but they never become regular). If they are that good, why players from Sampdoria, Genoa, Roma, Inter, Chelsea youth and etc are ahead of them?
These made me think our youth teams lack real talent. At least it's my doubt.
Used to think that F.Rossi was a decent talent. At least he started for Italian U-19 team though they didn't even qualify. And I like how he played in TIM CUP. But he is too injury prone and has been almost runed by it (gone under 6 operations. injured again and again) and he is physically too weak like Giovinco.
