In phonology, Sardinian is the closest to Latin. In grammar it is Romanian.

Italian is closer than French.

Excluding Sardinian, Italian and French are the closest to each other grammatically among lating languages. They have a common core of around 70% iirc

I think Romanian and Spanish are closer to Italian than French. When I was in Erasmus, each spoke their languages and yet they understood each other.

Phonetically French is the most different to other Romance languages. The others sound pretty close (except Portuguese I guess, which also sounds different).

Spanish (especially European) sounds a lot like Greek to me. A lot of "s" sounds.

Phonetics and grammar is a different thing
Are you a linguist?

I don't know Italian, but from my experience at school where I studied Spanish, the sentence structure is really similar (the same pronouns, masculine and feminine nouns, the adjectives always after the nouns, the difference between you (vous/ vosotros) and you of politeness (vous/ usted), the questions are constructed identically, the conjugation is the same.

.
I was jealous, the Spanish and Italians talk to each other, and I did not understand what they were saying. Written Portuguese looks like Spanish, but the pronunciation is different

No sorry man I'm not :D but I read on it. I swear i read that they were closest on grammar level. I'll have a look again soon.

But yeah the way they pronounce things in spanish and italian is similar so that might be easier to pick up words phonetically

Pagelle, translated from here: https://www.juventusnews24.com/page...va-voti-protagonisti-playoff-serie-c-2019-20/

Loria 6.5 - Returned in great style between the bianconeri posts. The saves on Gabionetta and Ronaldo saved Juventus at decisive moments.

Di Pardo 6.5 – Always precise on the right. Conceded little space to his opponents. (46’ Wesley 6.5 – Gave more thrust to the right in the second half).

Alcibiade 7 – Gigantic in the centre of defence, winning the duels against his opponent Soleri.

Coccolo 7 – Now he is the perfect partner for Alcibiade. Mechanics are increasingly smooth in the centre of defence.

Frabotta 7 – He took the role of attacker in scoring the second, writing the last words of the qualification speech.

Fagioli 6 – The best player in the first half, naivety showing with the second yellow.

Toure 6.5 – His usual match of substance and strength in the midfield. Great legs against a more experienced midfield opponent.

Zanimacchia 7 – From nowhere the first goal is created from his speciality: the free-kick. Ingenious invention. (69’ Beruatto 6 – Brought on at the end to protect the result).

Rafia 6.5 – Had a hand in Frabotta's goal: a perfect counter-attack orchestrated by the midfielder (69’ Peeters 6 – His presence in midfield is felt right away, not fouling during tackles).

Marchi 6.5 – Less involved in the heart of play, he did important work to sacrifice himself and help the team (85’ Marques n/a)

Brunori 6 – A blocked shot and little more from his game. He was substituted after the Fagioli red card (48' Portanova 6 - He did well in both phases of play).

Coach Pecchia 7.5 – With ten players against men, the team showed the right character and spirit to win the game.
you seem to actually watch the u23, so I’ll ask you...who are the top 3 players on the squad? The only one I’m comfortable judging is fagioli, i think he’s good enough for serie a. Is Toure legit?

Follow up. I checked and there are a few resources online that corroborates it

From Wikipedia (I know, but its referenced and its stated elsewhere too)

"In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary. According to the Ethnologue, Lexical similarity is 89% with French, 87% with Catalan, 85% with Sardinian, 82% with Spanish, 80% with Portuguese, 78% with Ladin, 77% with Romanian."

I don't watch many games, mostly follow the team.

Fagioli and Zanimacchia for me, but Frabotta has also impressed as the season has gone on.

Toure is mostly midfield athleticism, I don't think he has enough ability to play in Serie A.

Wesley might end up a good fullback but I've only seen a few games. He definitely has skill.

Learning Italian on Duolingo currently. Planned on learning Spanish next bc it's the closest.

After that...what's closest to Italian+Spanish? Portuguese?

I like Marchi, 34 year old veteran playing like alibaba CR7 version. He’s also playing with #7.

as a romanian, without even trying to learn the language i can somwhat understand italian and spanish languages. for me french is harder and portuguese is harder than french,.i belive if i would be living with an italian or spanish person, would understand them clearly with the usual words in 1 month only by hearing them speak.

no 2nd leg? who's next then?

the first round of the national stage of the Serie C playoffs has ended: Carpi, Juve Under 23, Potenza, Novara and Ternana qualify. From next round Bari, Carrarese and Reggio Audace also come into play, second in their respective groups at the end of the regular season

i guess we're waiting for a draw
13 July against Carrarese. This used to be Buffon’s team, right? Does he still own it?

- - - Updated - - -

Carrarese were the runner up in group A. Tough game.
