I don't even need to like Wes. I just can realize his off the ball attacking instincts can suit how Motta wanted CMs to play in Bologna. Not technique only but off the ball movements and athleticism required.

He’s not much of a midfielder with regards to what you want from a B2B mid. He’s not a ball winner, very poor tackler, terrible first touch, he’s an awful passer both accuracy and range, and he’s a terrible defender, constantly out of position.

Now, to give credit where it’s due. His off-ball movement in attack is brilliant. He gets open in the box more than almost any midfielder I’ve watched. And his energy and running in midfield allows him to play a disruptor role when the other team has possession. He’s also very good in the air. If he was a bit better a finisher, he’d be a great striker imo.

Bro, I love it. I bought his jersey when we signed him and I celebrate every goal and assist because HOLY FUCK an American is playing for the club I love. But I'm not going to pretend he's a fucking top midfielder.

I would've never dreamed an American could play for Juventus but I'm not going to pretend McKennie is anything more than he actually is.

And his attacking movement is awesome. His instincts are great. I actually find him frustrating because if he was just a little more technically sound, he'd be a top midfielder due to all his other characteristics.
