Juventus have enjoyed a rich tradition in the recent history of the Viareggio Cup. Today’s clash with Roma will see the Bianconeri contest their seventh final in the last ten years. And out of the last six finals played, the trophy has returned to Turin on five occasions.

The Primavera emerged victorious in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2010, losing out in the 2006 final, but regaining supremacy shortly afterwards by winning the Scudetto. The other two Viareggio Cup successes came in 1961 and 1994.

If Baroni’s side see off the Giallorossi, Juventus would equal Milan and Fiorentina’s record of eight Viareggio successes. The Viola, overcome in the semi-finals by Roma, have not won the tournament since 1992. The Rossoneri, knocked out of this year’s edition in the group stages, last lifted the trophy in 2001.

Today’s opponents have won the youth tournament on three occasions: 1981, 1983 and 1991.
