Cabrini Unsure About Juve’s Scudetto Claims For 2007/08

The Bianconeri’s legend believes that there is a long way to go before Juventus can actually win the Scudetto, despite President Cobolli Gigli stating that the Old Lady will be ready to compete for the title already from next season.
Antonio Cabrini still holds Juventus close to his heart, but being a realistic person, he does not feel that the club should be talking about winning titles, at least not for the time being.

“First the Bianconeri must achieve promotion, then they will have to work a lot and well, and especially make as few mistakes as possible in the choices.

“In Italy if you want to arrive to the top you must have a team made of six or seven players of the highest level, with the inclusion of four or five young players.”

The way to the promotion is still long for Juventus, however the Bianconeri ar definitely on the right track as they have already climbed into third place of Serie B, two points behind Piacenza, despite an initial points deduction of 17 points which was later on decreased to 9 points.

I dont think that we can win the schudetto in the first year , we need 1-2 years to go back to the Serie A level depending on the new arrivals

I don't think we should be :smoke:ing the weed like Gigli. Assuming we even promote, we may even have our bouts with just trying to qualify for European play.

We will strengthen, say Juve Wednesday 13 December, 2006

Juventus chief Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has told the club’s dithering stars that they will fight for major honours next season.

David Trezeguet followed in the stud marks of Gigi Buffon and Mauro Camoranesi yesterday, by announcing that he would only stay in Turin if the club build a competitive team on their expected return to Serie A.

“We are the first ones who want a side who can compete at the highest levels,” responded Cobolli Gigli this afternoon.

“I hope that our champions will remain with us, but I am aware that this will depend on the results we achieve and the conversations we will have with them.

“This is my wish as the President of the club and as a Juventus supporter,” explained the Bianconero.

“We will try to convince them with facts by immediately returning to Serie A. Alex Del Piero and Pavel Nedved are excellent examples to follow, as they decided to stay with us during the summer.

“Buffon woke up one morning and thought he would remain to see what it felt like to play in Serie B. Camoranesi and Trezeguet then did the same.”

Many newspapers have recently speculated that the current Old Lady could compete in this year’s Serie A, but the President refused to be drawn on the comparisons.

“Not even a Coach would be able to say what the gap between Juve and the other Serie A teams might be now,” he explained.

“I can only say that I am sure that next year’s championship will be more competitive than the current one.”

Juventus, despite their nine-point Calciopoli deduction, hit the top of Serie B on Saturday after a 1-0 win over Verona.

This is the latest quotes of our president, probably replying Trezeguet!!!

Lega Calcio ban club Presidents Wednesday 13/12/2006.

The Lega Calcio will never again have a club representative as its President, announced Antonio Matarrese after tonight’s meeting.

“If the elected President of the Lega Calcio is also the head of a club, he must choose between one or the other. We can never again have an organisational rapport between the two figures, so he can’t represent the interests of an individual side & the collective,” said current President Matarrese.

“The new rules we have drawn up are very clear on this & nobody should even think about flying too close to the sun, because they will get their wings burned.”

The Lega Calcio – a sort of union of Serie A & B clubs – was embroiled in controversy for the years under Adriano Galliani’s Presidency due to claims he wielded too much power as vice-President of Milan.

Today the Lega united in Milan to discuss changes to the rules post-Calciopoli, which include a paid post as President.

“This is also a novelty, because the President will always be present, attentive and dedicate himself full-time to his duties,” added Matarrese.

“We have to start running this union like a business with a real Board of Directors to make decisions & focus only on the good of the whole football environment. The clubs approved these changes unanimously, although it can only be implemented after it has been passed by the Federation.”

He also commented on the latest Calciopoli trials, as Arezzo’s appeal against a six-point penalty was rejected, while Reggina’s was reduced from 15 points to 11.

“I understand they are angry, but it’s in nobody’s interest if they go to the TAR court for a new appeal. Everyone has to accept their responsibility in this mess, because they know what they did. It’d look so much better if they just moved on.”

Didn't he pogle his way into the president's position after Galliano got kicked out??? If so, he'll have to stand down. In any case he won't be in charge.
