Stu, we could easily place Camoranesi out on the wing in a 4-3-3 formation, very much like Mourinho's setup at Chelsea.

Buffon

Sagnol - Thuram - Cannavaro - Zambrotta

Ballack - Emerson - Vieira

Camoranesi - Trezeguet - Ibrahimovic

Camoranesi would be able to roam freely on the right, or even drift towards the center of the pitch like he usually loves to do. This system looks very much like the 4-3-3 being used at Chelsea with Robben and Duff advanced forwards on the flanks...Mauro would have the same job as those players and be able to concentrate a bit more on attacking. Trezeguet would be alone up top and Ibrahimovic would roam around as usual with Zambrotta taking the left flank to himself. With the trio we have midfield we would run over most of our opponents...comparable to what Mourinho has in midfield at Chelsea.
Nice, but isn't Camo a little bit too defensive to take this job?
And wouldn't Ballack better be on the left of this midfield? he would have a nice complenatrity with Zambrotta, just as Nedved had last season.

And are we sure that Sagnol will join us. Some media suggested that he was only a smokescreen in order to sign Ballack.

Sagnol is a confirm in my opinion ..its just a matter of who would follow him....and i think if we were to get Cassano then theres a big chance that 4-3-3 is our formation for the coming season.

Forget about Ze Roberto. Mutu is younger and just as good. Deisler would be a good addition to the team as we currently lack a natural alternative to Camoranesi and he could do a job more centrally as well. Believe it or not, but I'm not too sure about the biggest of the bunch, meaning Michael Ballack of course. He's a fine player and to acquire his services without having to pay a transfer fee would be wonderful but where exactly does he fit in? Some are saying that he would replace Nedved but unless we changed systems that wouldn't happen. Infact, the only way Ballack would even get into the Juve starting lineup is if we changed systems because Capello is not going to drop Emerson or Vieira for the more attack-minded German. Perhaps we could finally switch permanently to 4-3-3 with Emo, Paddy and Ballack forming the midfield trio. Camoranesi and Deisler would provide excellent back-up and wide options off the bench.

Buffon
Sagnol - Thuram* - Cannavaro - Zambrotta
Ballack - Emerson - Vieira
Ibrahimovic - Trezeguet - Mutu

We would then be able to call upon the likes of Chiellini, Kovac, Camoranesi, Deisler, Nedved, Del Piero and maybe Palacio from the bench.

It doesnt make things more complicated at all, we'd just play what we played under Lippi, Ballack behind the strikers, leave the left flank to Zambrotta and Sagnol and Camo on the right, really no problem. When defending Ballack would move down to central midfield, or, eventually, cover the left side a bit. In attack he would have a free role behind the strikers, Ibrahimović likes to drift out wide to the left and he and Zambrotta could do the job on the left flank, while Ballack likes to run into the box so we would have attacking presence there as well.

There is really no big issue in making them work together IMO.

Exactly my point. Signing Ballack merely complicates things. Perhaps the formation would work with Zlatan, Mutu and DP upfront but that takes Trezeguet out of the equation which is unacceptable.

I really dont think so. He'd replace Nedved while Zambrotta would move to the left and we'd have great players both on the flanks and in the middle of the field.

Very nice lineup there RochemBeck. Although I believe that Palacio should play as left midfielder with Viera or Ballack next to Emerson. Maybe we could be great with a 4-3-3 lineup, but I think we have been more successfull with 4-4-2 and with Capello that seems more fitting.

Buffon
Sangol - Thuram - Cannavaro - Zambrotta
Camoranesi - Emerson - Viera/Ballack - Palacio
Trezeguet - Ibrahimovic

EDIT: I think all of us agree with the defense.

How someone like Palacio can even be mentioned in the same sentance with Ballack, Emerson and Vieira is beyond me, and especially dropping one of that trio for Palacio is pure madness.

how come none of you people mentioned deisler in your starting 11?

and if capello goes to madrid next season, ive got a suspicion that he'll take emerson with him,and if that happends, ballack would fill his positiong directly.viera could move back to help the defence and ballack could play as the central attacking midielder.imo,if we get deisler he should be given the nod over camo in the starting 11.

I'm not convinced Camo and Zlatan would work like Duff and Robben (or Cole or SWP) do. Might be a little too defensive. I like having Nedved in there like he is now. It gives a good bit more flexibility in attack.
Obviously it would not work exactly the same way, as Ibrahimovic is not a winger like Robben. But Camoranesi would be given more freedom on the right flank and also have the ability to drift towards the center or even the other flank, thus getting him more involved with the matches. Zlatan would do the same things he is doing now and support Trezeguet who would just be the targetman as usual. Ballack would easily drift foward a la Lampard and do things all over the pitch, same with Vieira...with Emerson holding infront of the defense.

Personally this looks like an awesome formation to me. Sure, it might be a little unbalanced with the Zambrotta having the left flank to himself, however most great teams are somewhat unbalanced somewhere on the pitch.

Well yeah Ballack could easily slide to the left of midfield and Vieira to the right...doesn't exactly matter really. Please note that this is just what it would look like on the team sheet, not through the duration of the match obviously..

As for Camoranesi, sure he plays defense well but that doesn't mean he can't play further up the pitch. In some ways I think we would get more out of him if he did not have to do so much defending..

Palacio is a future hope and I have big hopes for him. He's young, fast, technical, has fighting spirit and has the future open for him. As for Viera, he needs to be more consistent and I don't think left flank is the best for Ballack. Although, when considering this again, maybe we should have Palacio as a sub. Although I have a feeling that he will perform better than Ballack. I was not very impressed with Ballack against Juve on Delle Alpi.

Some people are forgetting Capello used the 4-3-3 at Milan back in the early 90's, using Boban, Albertini, and Desailly through the center of the pitch. I could easily see him using Ballack, Emerson, and Vieira respectively at this Juventus.

With the killer defense in Sagnol, Thuram, Cannavaro & Zambrotta much is possible when building a greater offense. 4-3-3 would be interesting.

I can feel it in my bones. Ballack is coming to Turin.

Do you think that Felix Magath will replace Fabio Capello as he heads off to Old Trafford?
