There is basically no defensive midfield. Marchisio is more a guy like Pirlo who distributes the ball and fills free space on the field with his positioning. A team that plays the diamond formation needs a tough destroyer. Plus Marchisio is not experienced enough to that job alone.

Have you ever seen Crsiscito play? He plays either on the left or in the middle. Why waste him on a new position, when we will have Grygera and Zebina???

Marchionni is not better than Camoranesi, but still, Camo will leave. We will have a good right side though with Marchionni an Brazzo

We need a Gattuso style central midfielder, Isn't Tiago and/or Almiron capable of fulfilling this role.

Ranieri is not a fool. He will make sure that we will have a midfield destroyer in the starting XI.

Barzagli Wants Fiorentina, Palermo Forcing Him Towards Juventus - Agent

Andrea Barzagli's agent has revealed that the defender would move to Fiorentina immediately, if not for Palermo pushing him towards Juventus.

Barzagli's exit from Palermo is a near certainty following his blast at president Maurizio Zamparini over the treatment meted out to Eugenio Corini.

The defender had called it "absurd" and labelled it "the biggest mistake of Zamparini’s reign."

Immediately, Palermo sporting director Rino Foschi hinted at an exit.

"Andrea Barzagli seems willing to leave Palermo," he said. "After all, it’s better to have someone in your squad who is dedicated."

The player now wants to move to Fiorentina, but Palermo are pushing him towards Juventus, his agent has revealed.

"Fiorentina are now looking elsewhere for their reinforcements in defence, as Palermo have put obstacles in their path towards Andrea Barzagli, instead hoping to send him towards Juventus," said Claudio Orlandini.

"We have received offers from both Fiorentina and Juventus, so we just need to wait and see what Palermo make of the situation.

"If it’s up to him, Andrea would go to Fiorentina without a moment’s hesitation."

Juventus can offer Palermo one or two of their young players as a part of the deal, which is why the Sicilian club are keen to do business with the Old Lady. Fiorentina, meanwhile, have made a straight cash offer.
