Juve step up Suazo interest

Tuesday 25 April, 2006
Juventus are setting their sights firmly on £10m-rated Cagliari hitman David Suazo, but face stiff competition from Manchester United, Inter and Roma.

The Honduras international has had a spectacular campaign with 20 goals, a new personal best and over half all those scored by the Sardinians this season.

He also converted the penalty and caused all sorts of problems for the Bianconeri defence during their 1-1 draw earlier this month.

The 26-year-old will definitely be leaving the Stadio Sant’Elia in the summer after seven years at the club and a bidding war is expected, so Juve want to get in early.

Reminiscent of George Weah for his power and pace, Suazo is valued at around £10m after this season and is of particular interest to Manchester United.

Other potential buyers include Inter and Roma in Serie A, while Paris Saint-Germain would like to bring him to France.

Suazo currently earns just £417,000 per season and will at least double his wages with a big money move.

Juve transfer guru Luciano Moggi is expected to give the Turin giants the upper hand in this race by offering Uruguayans Ruben Olivera and Marcelo Zalayeta as part of the deal.

whats wrong? I think he is the best forward we have been link with....

Haha i dont know bout you but to me we seem to have enough forwards that we're even putting them on the wing. And i don't solving the problem with Juve throwin long balls forward, but actually increasing the likelyhood of that continuing..But rejoice eh. Suazo :pint:

Suazo is pretty pacey and has a sense for goals. I like that. I just hope we change coach to get more out of him. With Capello he would play left midfielder.

This guy reminds me of Eto'o. :D

I said it for a while that we must get him as Zalayeta's replacement. That was before him tearing the Serie A apart. 15m for a backup would be too much. If we can get him cheap let's do it!!!

If we can't get him, Vucinic would do the job also. Lecce will go to Serie B and his value will go down.

True. But throwing Zalayeta and Olivera into the deal is not bad at all. Suazo would be a definite hit with Juve, and he's more complete than Vucinic. Though i dont mind the latter as well.

Sell/release Zalayeta, and stick Mutu on the midfield, and bring Anelka, and rotate him along with Trezeguet, DP and Ibra..

Good to see we are after this guy, Im suprised about his 10 mil tag.. a bit too much TBH, infact a lil too much 7 mil sounds a little more realistic hmm maybe even 6. Nevertheless if cagliari relegate we may catch a bargain. Th ebad thing is man utd are after him as well as others.. but I would agree in giving zala to cagliari. The guy deserves to start for a team more a often rather than play like a bench player as for olivera.. well I aint so sure but if Capello is never gonna use him then what the hell. However if we do get rid of Olivera that that simply means we need another offensive midfielder as a back to our team which means happy searching.. Either way I like this guy and he can by no way be compared to zalayeta.. his much faster and sharper.. Infact if we didnt have capello I wouldnt be too suprised if he even challenged more for the starting line up.

Do you believe everything you read?
Which is why im suprised... also its from a more "authentic" source, transfer speculation it may be and lets face it if we never discussed about transfer rumours then such topics like these would never exist. All my talk on such speculation is based on assumption. The real question of whether if we will get him or not or if we are after him, well ill have to ask my resident mystic meg. But either way its still good to see such reports in the newspapers or football websites, theres a minor chance it may be true and im more than willing to accept that it would neither hurt me nor make me sad if these rumours ended up not coming true.

Yes, he's too expensive for a backup player, and Vucinic would be perfect, and considering his age (22 years old) and Suazo is 26. I know that suazo scored 20 this season, and last season scored pretty much. But remember guy from Brescia, I can't remember his name he was top scorer along Trezeguet, and he was like 40 years old. What I want to say is that maybe this is Suazo's best season that he will ever play.

And yeah, we already have four strikers and Mutu who deserves chance in Attack.
