Deco can kiss my butt :(, hope he wont get the award
Why is that? Are you still hoping Del Piero will win it?

Deco's displays in the Champions' League were second to none, and he was the mastermind behind most of the goals Porto actually scored. He was absolutely brilliant in the Final as well.

Agreed with Andy.

Deco should win it as he make significant contributions in Champions League and Euro2004. Balon d'Or is based on performances on that year, juz like the year where Nedved won it with his performances.

There is no doubt that Sheva is one the best strikers around and his contributions for Milan as been always consistence and vital. But his CL performance last year isnt really........

But I guess that they will give it to Ronaldino coz he is an Brazilian, high profile and of course, he is also amazing! :D

Buffon!, yeah he will win it next year, after winning the 04/05 Champions League with Juventus :D

Nedved hands crown to Sheva Tuesday 9 November, 2004

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2003 European Player of the Year Pavel Nedved claims Andriy Shevchenko deserves to take the title.

“It has rarely happened in the history of the Balon d’Or,” said the Czech international, “but it’s not out of the question that two East Europeans will win in successive seasons.”

The Juventus midfielder was crowned the best player on the continent last year and hopes the trophy remains in Italy.

“Shevchenko would deserve it, as I’ve seen him close at hand over the last few years. It’s more difficult to score goals in Serie A than anywhere else, but that doesn’t stop Andriy getting on target regularly.”

The Ukrainian has been named as one of the favourites to win the journalists’ vote in December, along with Adriano, Deco and Ronaldinho. His fine current form for Milan in the League – netting seven goals in nine games – is also helping his cause.

“Every time that Milan seem to be in some difficulty,” added Nedved, “he comes along to get them out of trouble. His goals are always decisive.”

Scoring in each leg of the Champions’ League Group clash with Barcelona also put his name in the headlines, so with this endorsement from the reigning European Player of the Year, Shevchenko could finally get his award.
