its an uneven statistical argument. if lampard and tiago had taken the same ammount of shots i can assure u tiago wud have the better average, but the truth is tiago doesnt shoot as far out as often as lampard so his average is bound to be less.

conclusion

riquelme > lampard

tiago > lampard

lampard = sh*t

FYI Tiago not only makes goals, he also scores. He is a creative playmaker and defends better than Lampard.

But at club level..the fact is Lampard is proven both in the CL and in the EPL..he isnt world class IMO but he is a very good midfielder..He scores goals his pasing isnt as bad as people make it out to be...He isnt a zidane or a Pirlo in terms of creativity but he makes up for that with his stamina,work rate and goals..

I'd say riquelme is much more talented than Lampard..and footbalistically(i know it isnt a word) he probably is much better..But IMO a player is 60% ability and 40% mentality...riquelme doesnt have the latter..thats why he never proved himself in europe other than that one season where He took Villareal to the semi's and then flopped.

And by the way Lampard's shot\on goal percentage is pretty good for someone who trys long shots alot..its 44%

Yess but Riq uses his vision to make other players better...Lamp doesn't. Lamp plays robotic...the goal is to try to cross the ball into the box and hope that Drogba will get the header. Riq tries to play trough balls that enables numerous chances for striker to get 1vs1 vs goalkeeper. Riq can drag 2-3 players onto himself and provide precious space for other players to advance,Lamp can't cuz usually he's marked only in front of the box. Riq's balls have eyes and that is what makes him dangerous at both sides of the pitch. And that is what makes him a far superior playmaker than Lampard. Oh,I forgot set-pieces

i agree with your post to some extent..I'd rather have a Riquelme type of player myself..but my point was that Lampard is more proven in Europe..

A player who scores lets say 2 out of 5 shoots on target has a better average than another with 1 out of 3, it doesn't make any deference if the former shoots 10 ,100 or million times.

Assuming the Tiago will have a better average if he had more shoots isn't vaild, at least from a mathematical point of view.
