With just over a week remaining until the big Serie A kick off, Juventus were back in training this morning to focus on their final friendly fixture before launching their title defence at home to Parma on Saturday 25 August.
While yesterday’s run-out - a 5-1 win over the Primavera in Villar Perosa - allowed the coaching staff to view a wide range of established first-team players and promising youngsters over the course of 90 minutes, this weekend’s Berlusconi Trophy poses a different prospect altogether.
The annual friendly at the San Siro, organised by historic rivals Milan, has been contested between the Rossoneri and the Bianconeri since 1995. And Conte’s men will be gunning for revenge after the hosts clinched a narrow 2-1 victory last time out.
With this in mind, the coaching staff welcomed the players back on the training ground at 10.30am. Possession drills and a selection of small-sided games on a reduced pitch formed the bulk of the session, while the goalkeepers trained separately under the guidance of Claudio Filippi.
The Bianconeri will conduct a second workout at 5.30pm.
