With glorious afternoon sunshine basking over Chatillon, the Bianconeri returned to the training ground for their second workout of the day.
The pleasant weather conditions, non working day and allure of the reigning champions all combined to make this afternoon’s session the most vocal of the five sustained so far.
Joining his team-mates for the first time was Lucio, who arrived in Val d’Aosta at 2pm. The Brazilian defender was afforded a warm reception as he made his way onto the training pitch.
Following a brief warm-up, the Bianconeri immediately got to work on possession exercises before moving on to their first tactical session of the season. Two groups were formed: the midfielders and strikers moved the ball around the field, while the defenders worked on positioning.
The tactics continued when two teams faced each other on half a pitch, with one side attacking and the other defending a single goal.
An eleven-a-side practice match rounded off proceedings. The Bianconeri were initially restricted to one touch before the coaches gave the green light for open play. It finished 2-1, with Quagliarella and Asamoah on target for the team in red, while Matri netted a consolation for the opposition.
