Juve bring back Chiellini
Sunday 5 June, 2005
Bianconeri transfer guru Luciano Moggi has confirmed that Fiorentina’s Giorgio Chiellini will return to Turin this summer.

“We will undoubtedly buy up the other 50 per cent of Chiellini’s contract,” said the director general. “Fiorentina already know the situation and there will be no problem.”

The defender was signed by Juventus from Livorno at the end of last season, but immediately handed over to the Viola in a co-ownership deal.

The youngster has impressed at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and earned a place in Marcello Lippi’s Italy squad.

Scudetto winners Juve are already planning for the next term and have confirmed the arrival of Bayern Munich defender Robert Kovac and Lazio midfielder Giuliano Giannichedda on free transfers.

It has also been reported that they are in advanced negotiations for Lecce winger Marco Cassetti – something Moggi has denied.

“Cassetti is a very interesting young player and had a great campaign, but we don’t need him,” Moggi told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

why not? we can give Zambrotta and Pavel a rest too.

1st year at Juve= Coppa Italia games, rest for Pavel or Zambrotta, injuries....

    not bad.

He is a regular for the Azzurri - no way in hell he's going to be a backup. I think Capello will change Zambrotta's position again, to right back. He already experimented with this in the last match of the season.

Zambrotta is a good midfielder, but an excellent wingback. I feel we won't use his defensive skills when used as a winger.

Exactly. Just look at how much games Pessotto got this season. With injuries, suspensions and the need to rest players Chiellini will get ample playing time.

Lippi is a fan of Chiellini so I don't think that Chiellini would miss the chance of playing for Azzurri in World Cup by coming to Juve and change to a sub player.

    Don't believe what channel4, goal.com, triballBS.... write.

I agree that Chiellini would be better at LM.
