08/23/2002. Juventus striker David Trezeguet could be out for five months due to complications with his knee injury.

The Frenchman was injured in a friendly tournament against Inter and Milan on July 31, but he was only expected to be out for a few weeks.

The 25-year-old has consulted two foreign specialists and one of them, Sakari Owara, has reportedly said that the player needs an operation that would keep him sidelined for five months.

Another specialist said that he could avoid this operation, but would need treatment for two months.

Serie A sides rule rich list Friday 23 August, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite the financial crisis in Italian football, five Serie A clubs are among the top ten richest sides in the world.

The revelation was made by a Spanish University study, taking figures from ‘The Economist’.

Manchester United lead the way ahead of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Milan, Juventus, Lazio, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter and Roma.

The study also outlined how these sides rake in their hard-earned cash. It emerged that the Spanish League is dependent on television rights.

51% of La Liga club earnings come from the small screen, compared to just 29% for Premiership sides.

It was confirmed that players cost more in Serie A, while most Latin countries have an unusually low earning from attendances.

I have always known we have the money, why cannot they just spend it well for once

We are saving for the rainy days :groan:

Trez won't be operated and will just rest for 2 months. 2 months, more or less, means the first stage of CL, right? The stage we usually don't do that great, right? And what if it won't heal, then he'll have to have an operation, which means bye bye Trez for this season :scared:

Juventus have confirmed that David Trezeguet will be out for 30 days despite reports that the injury was far more serious.

A report in today’s ‘Corriere dello Sport’ suggested that medics were hiding the true nature of the Frenchman’s problems.

An inflammation of tendons in his right knee – an injury similar to that suffered by Ronaldo in 1998 – was reportedly in need of surgery and a five-month lay-off.

But an official statement from the club this afternoon assured fans that the Serie A top scorer would be back in action by the end of September.

Trezeguet has been struggling with knee problems all summer and the situation deteriorated following a knock in the TIM Tournament last week.

:stress: I hope Trez is really fine ....

I am convinced, we must buy a good striker now! Morientes, Klose, Jardel, Flo, or Phillips pick one and buy. It is simple.

What's wrong with you people? Can't you see that buying the best of the best can't be done? We need to get attacking players. We need them to be reasonably priced, and availible. Flo, Klose, and Phillips are in the second tier striker class. DP and Salas are forards, Trezeguet is a striker. He is first tier, so is Owen, Van Nistelrooy, ect. Those players aren't availible, we don't need superstars, we need players who will get the job done.

The deadline for transfers is fast approaching, and it seems that Moggi and Lippi are satisfied with the current squad

What exactly will Kevin Phillips and Flo bring to our team, Flo is disliked by the Rangers fans and if he is not good enuff for Scottish league, how will he adapt in Italy? Phillips is not as good as so many second tier strikers in Italy and if he cannot break into the England set up where the likes of Vassell are way ahead of him, do u hear Arsenal or Man united remotely interested in him, while Klose sees himself to be Germany's number 1 stiker as he as just acquired that position, i feel being on Juve's bench will be a backward step.

If you want a good young striker that could improve asa player and improve our squad, i feel Gudjohnsen of Chelsea is a gr8 prospect as wellas Cheva of Paraguay, whose cameo appearance in the wc was excellent and he has just condemned world champs brazil to a defeat , there are also Guivou and Carriere in France. i still like the idea of Muzzi as he is strong

Goals! Phillips and Flo will bring goals. If you can say only one good thing about those two players, it is that they can score. you yourself said that we need more goal scorers.

Yes i said we need goals but Flo and Phillips don't guarantee that imo as Phillips has suffered for 2 seasons goal wise while Flo after an initial burst, his career has taken a downward spiral

Who cares? They will score several goals at least. We don't need huge players, we need role players who will come in when needed and score.
