Yes, Draxler has to prove himself this year so that sums of 40m+ r justified, especially after that injury plagued season and hence his stagnation. No 'normal' club would or should spend that kind of money on him now, but the market is empty and IMO his talent is undeniable. Schalke r patient enough to wait for his breakthrough anyway..they r happy to keep him for another year and see whats happening.
    Lolwat

    He's not worth 30+ mil.

Never ever would Heldt sell Draxler for that sum. Not in a million years. Heldt has proven often enough, that u cannot lowball him and he is getting his wishes most of the times, like when he sold Gomez and Neuer to Bayern.

At Stuttgart, he rufused to sell Gomez even when Bayern were offering ridiculous money for him..they needed to wait until his buyout-clause kicked in.

At Schalke, he refused to sell Neuer to Bayern for several years..they needed to wait until his contract was just running for just one more year, but despite that, he made the best deal possible with Bayern paying over 30m€ in the end including all the bonuses like winning BL and CL.

When it comes to selling huge assets of the club, then Heldt is a fantastic manager. I could write an essay about him, but to be more short, he wants to do it like Porto r doing it when it comes to selling players. Being tough to negotiate and u have to pay a huge sum to prize away their assets. He wants to have a name as a tough negotiator and making Schalke strong through generating huge sums with highly talented Germans. Their team is full of youngsters with great potential and many of them could generate a lot of money in the future like Draxler, Meyer, Goretzka, Sane, Geis, Nastasic, Kolasinac, Avdijaj and so on. So this Draxler deal is crucial for them to get a name and reputation..thats why they inserted such a high clause of 45m€..thats why Heldt has never mentioned a sum at which they would be willing to sell. If they would ask for a sum below the clause, then it would mean that these clauses mean shit. So it was convenient for him, that Juve just offered a laughable amount of money so he didnt need to negotiate any further, but to just end the discussions.

BTW Schalke had an offer from Arsenal last winter of around 40m€, but they denied even Draxler being injured most of the times..they r in general not interested in selling their youngsters with huge potential, just if an extraordinary offer arrives.

    This deal wont happen.

IMO he'd be worth €40m+ if the deal was structured around performance-related bonuses.

eg €20m, plus €10m if he plays a certain % of our games this season, then another €10m if he does the same over three years, then €5m if we reach another Champions League final. Maybe even put in a clause that they can buy him back for the €20m if he doesn't reach those targets.

I have no idea if they'd accept that, but that way if he flops it's €20m, if he's amazing it's €45m.

I don't care how firm Schalke hold their ground. That's their business. What I do care is how much we offer to this decent player. Actually we could have accumulated by pulling out of this deal and wait for a 'Alex Sandro' type of deal for a top notch AM. Young, got high ceiling, etc. Marotta is an expert in opportunistic signings so I trust him. The only thing is the fans need to be patient.

    this is soo gonna happen,

Beppe said we want a young 3/4, and said Draxler contacts is dead? well Heldt said he expects us "to make a new offer in the hours to come"

what is dead may never die, but rises... this is gonna happen, am sure Draxler is pushing hard for this considering how much Heldt has had to switch his stance. ffs even king nostradamus has even switched his stance from "draxler will never join you" to "for the right offer"

Lame play from Draxler almost costed Schalke a goal for Darmstadt. Before that, a good long shot.

Germany is incredible though. Great pitch, awesome fans, great stadium, full stands and such a shiitty game.

I would normally see the logic of that. But if they are so happy to keep him, why is Heldt talking so much about possible deal, and needing to deny it constantly, or say he is getting this or that offer. He seems like he wants to feed the machinery of a transfer himself, saying waiting for improved offer or how anything is possible. Like someone who wants to get a good deal now and sell him.

He doesn't behave like someone who wants to keep Draxler and sell in future at best. My best guess is he maybe realizes best value they can get for Draxler is this summer when the hype still lingers. Or other option is the player is keen and has told Heldt try to get a transfer possible this summer etc.

'Juve will try again for Draxler'

Schalke 04 sporting director Horst Heldt says Juventus are not done for Julian Draxler: 'We rejected them, but they'll try again'.

The ongoing saga to bring the 21-year-old German international to Turin isn't over, even as Serie A is set to kick off.

Only hours from Schalke's game against Darmstadt, in which Draxler is expected to start, Heldt confirmed previous reports that the Old Lady was set to make a final push.

“After we rejected the first offer we no longer had contacts with Juventus,” he said, as reported by Bild.

“But I think they'll give it one more try in the next few hours.”
