He's a good player, but clearly a step down for our midfield when you factor in the loss of Vidal.
No faith in Asamoah? He's the same type of player with great technique as well. The only reason he played in the LB position, there wasn't anybody better to do the job.

Trust, Asamoah got this.

Not that I would mind Draxler but it's a let down when you get linked with Gotze.
If its true that he is thinking twice about a move to Juve even thou we are promising him the #10 and its still not good enough to be convinced to come here then we don't need him, we can't do a thing and tbh I don't like begging players to come to Juve especially german players.

Because admitting that the midfield is taking a step backwards is admission of regression and rebuilding, rather than remounting a similar charge to the top.

If we're mortgaging the next couple of seasons in hopes that lesser replacements will develop into bigger stars in the future, that's a very risky strategy.
In a couple years Vidal will be 30. Draxler will be 23 and Gotze will be 25. Vidal is WC but these kids might be too.

This is business, there will always be risks involved.

IMO, our biggest enemy in the transfer market is half-measures... i.e., saving on a few million to get a value player a little off of peak capabilities/pricing. Because when you're expecting the make the QFs in the CL every year, ultimately you are going to end up facing those peak players with your slightly bargain copy and hope for the best.

That would be money well spent if we were trying to claw our way back into the elimination rounds of the CL, but not now. Bringing in three good players at bargain prices versus one expensive great player will kill us at this stage.
