Silly person

Last season we played 4-3-1-2, where Tevez was the playmaker in the final third. if you take away tevez and replace with a creative SS , you need a trequartista that is a playmaker. Last season we had two b2b players (pereyra, vidal) who played there, wich is okay, as we had a playmaker in tevez.

Without tevez, you need a TQ who is a playmaker. We dont have that.

4-3-1-2 in wich all 3 offensive players arent playmakers, doesnt work

We refuse to pay too much for a midfielder that has had injury concerns, fair enough

Vidal forced his way out, blame him
Imo Dybala seems to have a much better eye for a creative pass than Tevez ever did. We are going to miss his goals, his playmaking can be easily replaced.

Technical level/dribbling and passing is attributes the 21 year old seems to be superior to his super champion of countryman already, so that part of the game I wouldnt worry, but somehow Zach signifies Dybala as mainly just a mobile player.

True that. For this very reason, i refuse to hear any "but dybala as cam" idea. That guy is an insane ss talent. let hem remain an ss.

We really, really should get a playmaker tbh. The damage that duo would make..

Thats a very poor post Osman. You're a rather smart guy, you should know this. Let me clarify, in case there is some miscommunication.
My entire thing about the cam and strikers, is about ball retention. I was mentionning playmakers cause that is essentially a keypart of their task, but i notice how thats not for everyone the case, so i'll try to explain it more clear.

First of all, you have players that "come into the ball/pass". They are rather static players, that ask balls into their feet, and keep it or distribute it. Tevez often dropped very deep to do just this. Messi is another good example of an SS (these days) that comes to the midfielders, to take the pass and then move around with it, distributing it (messi grew alot into that past 2 years).

This is what i like to call "ball retention". These players ask the ball, and are able to keep it, because they ask it in a way they can easely receive and controll it. Like Pirlo does when he stands 40 centimeter away for Chiellini and asks a pass. But In the final third you need a bit more elusiveness to do that.
The importance of these players, is that they allow you to keep the ball into the team high up the pitch. When the opponent is well organised, they are your "go-to" player who'll distribute to find an opening, and then send it trough there when someone runs into it (see later : mobile)

Then, there are players, that like to move around, they seek spaces between the lines, between the defenders, and ask the ball there, eighter in their feet, or in space. These players tend to get to the ball, and create danger. Eighter by beating their man, go around for a cross or trough pass, or make a move and shoot on goal.

This is why i call them mobile.

Now, Dybala is a player, that likes to find spaces, where he wants to receive the ball. He'll 'run from the ball" as it were, and if someone reaches him, he'll create danger. Like Osman says, this is because Dybala is very gifted with technique and dribbeling and passing. He'll get the ball, and make an action and send someone trough the defence, or beat his man and try a shot. Such SS are incredibly valuable. Wich is why we quickly trew 40 mil on him.

So ideally, you have excellent players like Dybala or Morata, who seek to exploit spaces between players and lines, and move there to be in a position to do damage.
Next, you need 1 player that retains the ball, and seeks out these spaces, and passes into them when they appear, or distribute it when there arent, so your entire team can move up the field

@Red can you tell me if i missed something or am unclear still in something ? @Osman do read it please

I dont see why Dybala wouldnt be able to drop back and receive the ball to set up an attack, much lile Tevez did. We need an offensive midfielder for other reasons than what Tevez did for us. Most people here seem to forget that we have acquired one of the best #9s in the world this mercato, Mandzu needs to be set up with much higher regularity than Morata did last season. In addition to this we have lost one of the best b2b midfielders in the world, so we are going to change the way we play - we need a focal point in the last third much more than we did last season, its going to be a task that I think neither Dybala nor Draxler (Tevez neither for that matter) are/would be able to do.

If we get Draxler the only way to play, imo, is going to be a 3-2-1 with Pogba playing a more responsible MF role and our general attacking play focusing much more on moving the ball to the wings, where it will hurt us less to lose it and lightning fast counters.

Whats the point of being part of an exclusive society if everyone and their grandmother is in it? Even badass is being considered FFS.

It used to be a couple of buddies in a sauna, now there are membership cards and whatnot. Mainstream meh.

Zach thinks Dybala is like Morata.A run into space and dribble kind of player.
But he has more facets to his game and he's definitely capable of 'ball retention' or 'ask for the ball and set up an attack' or whatever he's trying to explain.

The only issue here is that's too much responsibility on a young guy's shoulders but I see no reason why he can't play a Tevez kind of role in the future.Infact he plays similar to him with an eye for pass as well unlike Tevez.

Oh and that @Red mention dint take long

Your buddy will probably be occupied playing golf or watching ashes cricket :D

    What ?
Thats like saying hitler and ML King are the same cause they have two legs.

All they got in common, are that they dont come into the ball, but move in space to receive it there. Aka not the ball retention youd be looking for.

You offcourse know this but you have your

    THIS

Dybala obviously lags behind Tevez in a lot of other departments obviously, but his passing and vision seem to be superior actually.
Creating isn't limited to fancy passing. If Tevez walks through the defence like a truck it's just as creative as pirlo's passing because it creates a dangerous sitation

I don't get all the hype for this guy. Our attacking front is already way too young and signing a guy like this (expensive, too young, and injury prone) would just be too risky. Anyway if we do get him, I hope he makes me shut the fuck up.

It is indeed risky spending money on a proven player (he has also done it in the CL as well as The Bundesliga, and let's not forget that he happens to possess a WC winner's medal as well), but not so much of a risk to waste funds on Zaza, or close to 40 million Dybala. All of them are unproven.

This guy is worth the investment as there is a lot of upside to his game, he is explosive and dynamic, and still very young. The whole injury prone thing is BS; he had one serious injury, and that is about it. Is he currently worth 30+ million? Most probably not (potentially, he could be worth 50 or 60). However, prices are inflated, and Zaza wasn't worth what we paid for him, nor was Dybala for that matter. Perhaps in a couple of years Dybala will be worth double, but he is just as much of a risk at this point as Draxler is.

Dybala will lose alot of his game when dropping off deep, he'll be locked up to easely, and you lose your connecting point up front.
He isnt a tevez or messi that you cant push off the ball, hes physically limited.

When he can play his normal game, its a whole different thing
