Depends on Villareal's thoughts of how their season is going. Barca, RM, Valencia got the top 3 spots and Villareal will compete with Malaga and Atletico for that fourth spot. They lost their best player and going to lose another striker. If Villareal ends up being 6th in the league and Rossi only having scored ~13 goals then nobody would want to pay 30M for Rossi I think.

We made a move last season when we had Delneri. He needed to replace Diego. We wanted a loan + option to buy. Got rejected, Villareal would only want to sell him.
We made a move for him this season, it was close but we wanted to give 22 + 8m bonuses and Villareal wanted more. Later when negotiations dragged on they decided to sell Cazarlo and said that Rossi wasnt on the market. If they fail out on CL then they would be wise to sell him, since a fourth spot will be out of their reach with or without Rossi and this is their biggest chance of cashing in on Rossi since he had his best season.

Sooner or later Rossi will be a Juve player. If we fail to sign him this season, we'll be first in line next season.

They wanted to keep him and challange for the title, when in January it was clear that the title and CL spots were out of the reach (they were 11-14th by then), they decided to sell him. The guy carried the the team for a better part of the season when he was around. Its amazing how daft Marrotta really is, to thin Vucinic has solved all our striker problems and we wont be needing Quag anymore. If anything, he'd be the perfect complement to Mirko up front instead of an alternative. If this goes through, Marrotta should be banned from football.

I don't like where this is going with all the talks of a Vargas-Quag swap.

Don't get me wrong, I would realy like to have Vargas at Juve, but this wouldn't make sense.

The only thing that I can surmise from all this is that it has nothing to do with his previous injury. If he is still struggling with it, there is no way that Fiorentina would give up one of their better players for someone who is still injured.

I have to believe that there is more to this story about possible friction between Quag and Conte than meets the eye.
