Bastos has 20 assists in the last 5 seasons while Vargas has 25.

Vargas is one of the best crossers on the continent, his crosses are just marvelous.

His shot, dribbling and free kick abilities are also very good.

Vargas can play LW in a 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, LCM in a 4-3-3(he did that very successfully with Fiorentina last season) and he can play as an emergency LB.

Ah, It's tough to choose between them then. Vargas has 5 more assists but Bastos scores a lot of goals for a winger. Bastos played LW/RW last season, and as LB in the World Cup.

I've always been a big Vargas fan as well. If he were quicker he would be world class with his fighting strength and great technique. I don't know how important pace will be for Conte's system but he can beat his man regardless and send a great cross in.

Its better to play Vucinic as SS instead of Quags anyway. Vucinic can back track and fill the hole. Vargas and the entire team would obviously play better with Vargas at left wing and Vucinic at SS.
