The kid played the entire season as a 20 year old in a new league and country and helped make Luca Toni play like the Luca Toni of 10 years ago.

It's a risk I wouldn't mind taking.
For a fee close to 30 M€? Had it been around 20 M€ I would not complain, but 30? Come on, that's daylight robbery.

Yup, it was about time we started making these kind of acquisitions, instead of utter scrap that no one seems to be willing to take off our hands.

:agree:

Instead of watching talent in Italy be sold abroad then trying to buy them back later on. Success comes at taking risks. Can't always play it safe.

barca afford paying that amount, we don't.
true true, never did since calciopoli, not even for more proven players like Diego, Melo, etc
the expectations will be sky high.. .

pogba value after one season with juve was around 40 million. after 1st half of last season he was around 70 million.

you simply can't wait too long. if we didnt get him now, another season and his value would have went up to 40 million as clubs like manu, arsenal and monao came knocking.

on the other hand, there is the Martinez case, unlike pogba cuman and morata, iturbe is not coming from a high class academy...
this risk is considerably higher with him...

Here is the way I look at it. This board has never spent this much money on any player, be it established or not. There must be something that the coaching staff and management must see in this kid to take this kind of chance

I think Porto is a pretty good academy right? Even River Plate, where he was loaned is pretty well renowned in that regard.

Madrid were allegedly interested in Iturbe not so long ago. Obviously it would've been ridiculous because he'd be behind about 250M worth of talent in the wide areas BUT plenty of people see a lot of potential in him. And a nowadays tiny club like Hellas Verona agreeing to a 15M fee for him says it all.

Sure, it's risky but we clearly can't afford ready made top players yet due to the combined fee + salary so the next best alternative is to make our own. Does it always work out? Obviously not. Is it better than spending 10-15M on a mediocre player who we know will never improve us and who we'll never be able to sell? Yes, oh F*CK yes.

iturbe cosman pogba morata berardi... a bunch of high potential group of youngsters we can have for 'only' around 50 million euros in total? they are definitely worth taking and trusted, if things are working well we can have the potential for domination in the next few years, compare that to the 500 million euros madrid invested for the last few years, then such a deal is kind of no brainer.

The only thing that worries me about this deal is the uncharacteristic willingness to sign him for such an amount. It's making me wonder if Vidal/Pogba are on their way out.

Otherwise, I'm all for this deal. These days you need to look around and see what's available. World class young players who are really good will almost never come for cheap because all the clubs, big and small, are going after them.
That's why signing Pogba was so great. These kinds of deals are like finding oil in your backyard. Also, when you put it into perspective, 30 Million for a very promising, talented, demanded player isn't that much when you think about the investments we did in the past. Any mediocre player today cost somewhere around 10 to 15 million. Things have changed. Inflation and too much money in the market are the causes of this.

I'm thrilled that we're investing in young talent like this. If he turns out to be the real deal, there's no limit to what this team could achieve.

Not sure I understand what exactly you are asking?

I see two scenarios here:

1.) Verona knows we really wanted Sanchez and missed the chance. Players of that calibre won't come any cheaper and they know that if Juventus wants to do well in Italy and better in the CL they need a game changer (someone that allows us to change formation). We aren't after anyone else because not many of these kinds of players are available so they are going to make sure they get premium value. They don't need to sell to us, they can sell to anyone abroad. They have the bargaining chips, we don't in this.

OR

2.) We have been watching Iturbe for a while now and scouting reports are screaming for this kid and we are convinced he is worth it.
