His dancing is appalling...but he seems infected with an excitable lunacy, as well as decent pace, useful shot technique and determination. Which are all welcome attributes.

From everything I have seen of him in videos, he seems more final third wide striker, than a traditional left winger, who hugs the touchline, beats his man, crosses, as well as drives into the box if space opens up.

but then I read a quote by the man himself, soon after signing for Juve, which included the words 'i was born to cross'??? Did I imagine that???

I just wonder if there is anyone here, who has watched him play regularly over the last few years, and can suggest his strengths and weaknesses, as well as how suitable he is to the role he will play for us. Which I assume is the left midfield position.

Not sure about the pace, he moves about quite slowly (on the ball at least). I like his technique a lot. Like you though, I need to see more of him.

was forced to leave training out of precaution following the symptoms of a muscle strain to both thighs

so our SS are going to be a 36 year old and a guy that seems to be getting injured alot during pre season, should be fun this season

Marotta-Del Neri is such a winning combination, isn't it?

Well, we are 2-0 in Europe. ;)

Realistically, some serious patience is going to be required here. The situation that they inherited was pretty damn dire...

As for Martinez, it would probably be wise for people to reserve their judgement on the player for the time being... at least until he can run properly? Maybe even wait until he's played a competitive match? As questionable as that 12m purchase seems right now, fans need to support our players, especially those who are adapting to new surroundings.

This jersey is heavy enough as it is.

Well, if we're getting rid of our talent like Giovinco and Diego for players like him, he better damn well be fucking amazing.

Diego is still our player right now - we didn't buy Martinez to replace Diego.

After the past couple of seasons, Giovinco needed a fresh start and guaranteed first team football. I have confidence that if he plays up to the standard we all believe he is capable of, he'll be back.

If he had stayed and not gotten consistent minutes, it probably would have crushed him. In the long run, it may cost us an additional 4-5M to get him back, it's true, but another wasted season would have been sheer disaster. It might have fractured his relationship with our club permanently. As of this moment, I feel that he ultimately wants to rejoin the Bianconeri.

Anyway, as someone who's only seen Martinez a couple of times, I'm not in a position to make definitive statements about his quality.

All the same, patience is a virtue... for many reasons.
