In my opinion he doesn't really fit into the team. They already have obvious forwards better than him, and there isn't really any "wingers" for Uruguay, more attacking fullbacks.

Martinez + Diego + Pepe
Now we can wait for Clint Eastwood to show up from somewhere and shoot them all.

Not official yet, eh? It gives me hope that it's just a game Marotta is playing with CSKA.
Hopefully we're buying Martinez for much less and we're still after Krasic, but we're lying about the price to put pressure on CSKA and make them think that now that we bought an expensive winger, we don't need Krasic.

Bah, who am I kidding :wallbang:

 exactly.

Am still shocked that we're actually went for Martinez. The guy is average (above average at best). He's already 27, are we really depending on this guy to lift the team back to its glory days :shifty: .

Really shocked from this move.

Ok, i cant say anything about this guy cause i have never seen him play. But one thing im interested in is why, oh God why, cant we sign one big name, one quality player who has already proved his worth.......im getting tired of Juve signing players for which i have heard only after they joined Juve.........

Good luck Martinez, hope you do good here.....

He can fit in easily IMO.

We could only be lying about numbers now, but I doubt really. Even if we do it's not going to be a big difference. We have a deal in our hands and we're only waiting for the medicals to make it official.

I am a bit worried at the lack of quality being signed but there is still plenty of time left in the transfer market, so hopefully we can sign a big name.

Although not many had heard of Zidane before he came to Juventus (not that I am comparing Martinez or Pepe to Zizou)

The age has nothing to do with his quality.........Didier Drogba joined Chelsea at the age of 27/28

There is absolutely nothing in common between zidane's move and this one. Zidane was a pretty big 23 year old talent in france with Bordeaux before he moved here (if we brought someone like Hazard for example then yeah we can compare both transfers).

But Martinez is already 27, he's nothing special. I've seen the guy plenty of times and he never really stood out, up until that goal that he scored against Inter when people started noticing him.

Bottom line is, its crazy to compare the two players ( the 23 year old zidane of Bordeaux and 27 year old Martinez of Catania).

It seems that Lotito was calling Lo Monaco many, many times but nothing. He said that Lazio could've gotten him but they should forget about him now as it's too late. He gently told them to fuck off. Lazio made a bid of 10mln it seems but we offered something higher and played the cards faster so he's coming here.

yeah that sound great , lets' spend a shit load of cash on a big name cause that will guarantee immediate success.

I don't understand this obsession with big names .
We haven't yet played a single game and people are already bitching and whining like we finished last.

Yeah, where did that come from.......its not like Juventus has given us any reason to doubt their competence in signing new players. They always make great deals, which really prove themselves, and which helped Juve finish 2nd place last season....

Is he a typical Del Neri winger who will attack down the flank and then track back to defend during a game?

The thing that worries me the most is not that he played for Catania or that he hadn't made it to the World Cup with Uruguay, but that he hasn't got the characteristics we truly need in a winger.

Someone mentioned he can also play as a Support Striker?

Read the brackets - I am saying that I am not comparing them.

I am simply pointing out that big name players are not always the most important thing, we have bought players who aren't big names in the past and it has worked out well.

Thats true, but we should target only the really talented players out there (not necessary the big stars). Infact that was always Juve's strategy in the past (with a few exceptions every now and then).

But nowadays we're targeting a pretty average players and we're paying lots of :money: for them. Anyways my expectations were already low for the upcoming season when we hired Del neri and its getting lower and lower with time pass by and with every new signing.
