This was the best I could find...

In a press release dated August 7,2008 Juventus stated:

"On 9 July 2008, during a training session at Pinzolo, the player Almeida Gomes de Andrade, Jorge Manuel, was the victim of another serious injury to his left knee (relapse of the fracture of the rotula) operated twice in the past season. A new osteosynthesis operation was thus needed. The post-surgery prognosis is a number of months. Given the impossibility for the player to recover to play professionally, the company has proceeded to fully write down the residual book value of the player's registration rights with a negative effect on the 2007-08 financial year for € 6.8 million."[7]

I had assumed he was dead, but I keep seeing his name in the goal com match previews such as the torino one posted a few days back...

Juventus

Giorgio Chiellini worked apart from the rest of the squad on Thursday after suffering from muscle fatigue, but he should be back for the game against Torino. Zdenek Grygera and Marco Marchionni also trained separately but they are likely to start. Nicola Legrottaglie is suspended while Mauro Camoranesi, Paolo De Ceglie, Cristiano Zanetti, Tiago and Jorge Andrade are all injured.

I know those goons make errors constantly, not just with their translation of italian editorials into english but with formations and squad lists, but I can't say the same of the channel four football italia editorial team who included this line i their derby preview:

Jorge Andrade is still a long way from returning but has had company in the Bianconeri sick bay from defender Paolo De Ceglie and midfielders Cristiano Zanetti and Mauro Camoranesi.

Which leads me to wonder, if he remains, on the books at Juve and still hopeful of a return to a physical state capable of allowing him to play for our first team...

I have continued my search for Truth, and the most up to date news I could find was stating that Juventus have requested the Italian Football Federation to terminate his contract, pending a medical examination. As to when that examination took place or will take place, I am in the dark, but to shed more light on the situation I have written to the sports desk at juventus.com.
