“If you compete, you do it with the strongest in the world who want to beat you. And it is normal that if the results don’t arrive, the fans aren’t happy.”

:sergio:

“Our football is no longer the point of arrival of the great champions, but a springboard to go to the Premier League at the height of their career.”

We’re looking like chumps.

What happened to the old ethos or what has always been, Juventus is about winning, Juve is win.

This is not good. Very worrisome. The man has lost vision and his Grandfather’s vision.

Are you more upset that he said it or that it's true?

Definitely because he said it. It's true, but he definitely doesn't need to say it. Nothing good comes out verbalising your new status as a Dortmund for EPL sides.
Marotta has said it a million times, Agnelli talked about how Serie A is a transition league like 10 years ago, so why should these kinda comments be scrutinized now?

I also think there's a lack of acceptance in our fan base to the reality of our situation. Like we can talk ourselves bigger we'll still be the same club we were 20 years ago, in the same elite competition.

There's no point in resigning ourselves to being a feeder club from now on, but there should also be a realisation that we are part of a shit league that has done nothing but harm us and itself in the process. But it's easier to be boastful in a position of strength, you can only kid people for so long when your turnover is €200m less than Tottenham's that you are still competing with Real Madrid and Man City. The nature of football dictates that you can be competitive at a continental level in any given season, but it's not going to be on an equal footing for many years.

Cause that was for the league not for the club. It’s Elkann himself that is saying this, pretty much forfeiting Juventus’ identity. This pre-season and mercato looking like crap.

Marotta kept repeating like a parrot that we can't compete financially with top clubs.

I really don't know what you are expecting him to say here. I'm not really an Elkann fan but the guy has literally poured a billion to cover the losses made by the incompetence of the previous management.

In any other situation, this club would be owned by a hedge fund like Milan or Inda.

However we always stood out apart from the league, with a possibility of being European Champions. Elkann seems to no longer have that as a target for the club.
