Is the next 'superstar' Nigeria midfielder, now for the story if people dont know him, he plays for Norweigen club Lyn, he was expected to be joining Chelsea at the end of the season, but Chelsea couldnt sign him due to his age, so he joined Lyn. However he has now signed for Man Utd, Lyn said they were shown a great deal of disrespect by Chelsea and that the contract they offered Mikel was (in the words of Lyn president/chairman) "bordered on slavery". They said he went to Man Utd because they showed alot of respect for the club and the player himself.

Funny, Chelsea have started a fuss because they believed he had signed for them, funny that he was at United on trial in 2003, a couple of weeks before Kenyon left, and guess that who 'asked' Abramovich to get him a Chelsea after he was at trial at United.

Sir Alex Ferguson is flying to Norway on Thursday to try and resolve the situation over John Obi Mikel.
The Nigerian starlet penned a deal with Manchester United last month, which infuriated Premiership rivals Chelsea, who thought they already had the 18-year-old signed and sealed.


Since the announcement of Mikel's signing, the youngster is reported to have received death threats and went into hiding - and some parts of the Norwegian press are claiming the youngster now wants to join Chelsea instead of United after Lyn called the police.

He has since gone missing and Lyn insist that agents Jerome Anderson and John Shittu are responsible for taking Mikel away.
Lyn are now furious with how events are transpiring.

"Jim Ryan [United youth coach] is already here and Sir Alex Ferguson is coming to Norway," Lyn's sporting director Morgan Andersen told skysports.com.

"We will have to see what happens when Sir Alex comes, but we are informing the police again and the Norwegian FA.

"We don't know where John is. He has been taken away by agents John Shittu and Jerome Anderson - who told us they were working for Chelsea, although Chelsea have not confirmed that with us.
"We have received some information that John may be on his way to join up with a Nigeria training camp in Germany, but we are not sure if this is right.

"Manchester United, we know, have written to Chelsea about this whole saga, but we know there is nothing wrong on our part. Everything done is rock solid and legal.

"We have always got on well with Chelsea. They made us an offer for John, but it was way off the mark and they only wanted to use middle men all the time.

"John wasn't happy with all the agents becoming involved and so we managed to cancel all arrangements before he signed for Manchester United."

Lyn have also insisted that Chelsea are illegally keeping hold of Mikel's team-mate and fellow countryman Emmanuel Sakri - who has been on trial at Stamford Bridge since January.

"He [Sakri] is our player and what can we say? They will not let him come back!" Anderson continued.

Lyn are now just concentrating on the Mikel situation, which has been complicated by the fact that the player is quoted as saying he wants to move to Stamford Bridge.

"I don't want to play for Manchester United anymore," Mikel is reported to have said.

"I'm not satisfied with the way Lyn have handled this case and I'm angry that they sent the police after me. I find this very degrading."

Lyn, though, insist that Mikel will only move with their say so as he is under contract with them for two more years - meaning he will not move to Chelsea unless there is a dramatic U-turn in events.

"We have him under contract, we will decide where he goes," said Andersen.

"It was all okay until 48 hours ago when these agents turned up, but now we just have to find him and clear this up."

Lyn and United are now looking into the possibility of the deal, which was scheduled for January, being brought forward to this summer.

"That is a possibility we are considering," Ryan told Aftenposten.

"But first we have to discuss this with Lyn and the player."

Lyn will hope the arrival of Ferguson - who is obviously worried enough to make the trip - will get the whole issue sorted out.

Manchester United have asked the Premier League to intervene in the wrangle over the proposed transfer of John Mikel Obi.

The 18-year-old Nigerian is at the centre of an extraordinary tug of war between United and Chelsea.

Obi is holed up in a London hotel, having refused to report for training with his club Lyn Oslo yesterday.

His move to London forced Sir Alex Ferguson to abandon plans to visit the youngster in the Norwegian capital.

Obi claims he was pressured into signing for United and Chelsea still believe they will land him.

"I signed a contract with Manchester United and I didn't do that of my own free will. I was put into a lot of pressure to do that," Obi said.

"And I was denied advice from my agent and people I trust and I didn't get much time to think about that.

"I did something I did not want to do. Because of the pressure from Mr Morgan (Andersen, Lyn's sporting director) and a representative of United it became too much.

"I was pushed and I had nobody on my side so I had to do it. I was denied a chance to have a week to think about it and get some independent advice from people so the pressure was too much."

Mikel was asked if he had been in contact with Chelsea but he stressed: "No, I haven't.

"I came into London and I have been in my hotel with my agent and haven't seen anyone or talked to anyone from Chelsea. I have no contact with Chelsea for now."

Manchester United chief executive David Gill has expressed his surprise that the player was considering going elsewhere.

"I am very disappointed. We have written to another club (about Mikel) but they have not responded to our letters," he told MUTV.

"We have shown due deference to them, explaining the situation. We have sent copies to the Premier League and we will see the outcome."

Gill displayed the player's contract documents on United's TV station as proof Mikel will come to Old Trafford when he leaves Lyn.

"We did a deal with the club, quite properly, following the rules," he said.

"We also did a deal with John Obi. He has turned 18 and turned professional. But in order to play in the Premier League he needs a work permit.

"That is the process we have gone through. We have the rights to the player.

"We have an option agreement with John Obi. There are two documents here which really show what we have, so we have the rights to the player in our opinion.

"It was all done legally, done in accordance with Fifa transfer rules, and we are very comfortable with it,"

Lyn Sporting director Morgan Andersen said: "Why leave suddenly? Why not tell the club you are contracted to?

"The boys who live with John could see he was scared. He was crying. I feel really bad for John, he has to protect himself and his family in Nigeria.

"The agents tried to influence him to say he didn't want to play for Manchester United.

"He didn't want to do that but he he said he was under great pressure from those people."
