Juve 'begin Joaquin discussions'
Friday 7 November, 2008
Juventus are reportedly ready to open talks with Valencia in the hope of adding Spanish international winger Joaquin to the ranks.
The Old Lady still haven't completely solved their midfield riddle and are expected to make additions to the squad in the New Year.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve's directors see Joaquin as a possible solution and sporting director Alessio Secco travelled to Valencia yesterday after the Champions League win over Real Madrid to open transfer negotiations.
Joaquin is under contract at the Mestalla until 2012 and his rescission clause is set at an intimidating £32m.
However, sources suggest that Valencia are experiencing some financial problems and they may be forced to cash in some of their assets.
If that is the case, Juve may be ready to swoop with reports suggesting a fee of £15m may suffice.
