100% percent. old juve under marotta would have kept cancelo and loaned danilo with option to buy (plus a little comission for marotta but hey thats nature of italian business)

There is different speculation, most say that he wanted to stay (he even confirmed himself he was happy at Juve and initially regretted joining City as he struggled) but the combination of 1) City offering a lot of money for him and 2) tactical questions and concerns about him defensively are often mentioned. Not only that but there is a third which suggests he had clashed with people at the club more than once, but that kind of internal thing is hard to verify. Otherwise I see no reason why Allegri wouldn't just use him like he does Cuadrado now.
