It is not a replacement. Alves and Cuadrado competed to be the creative right wing option. De Sciglio will come in to be the right sided defender and Bernardeschi comes in to compete with Cuadrado to be the right sided creative option. Alves was never really a fullback for us. He was deployed as a right winger in the 4231 or RWB in the 352. Now that we are using the 4231 we got De Sciglio for right back.

Essentially De Sciglio will take Barzagli's spot in out CL Final line up while Bernardeschi will take Alves. So compare those 2
Majority of season we played 4 man defence, only in last CL games did Alves play winger and and one league game early on. Rest was at fullback.

So yeah I call complete BS. De Sciglio is his direct replacement so far. It's just Alves was so complete package that only one player can't replace what he brought, he was a fullback, winger and playmaking CM all in one essentially.

I disagree. Dani played few games as a FB at the beginning of the season but peeps were much complaining that he's not playing as a FB but as he was a CM. Then he got that fibula injury and was out for 3 months (maybe four, I don't remember). When he came back I only remember him playing FB against Barca. All the remaining games he was RWF.

Umm wtf, Licht was benched as RB full time after Alves was back, and we did not play the 3-4-2-1 formation that often only in late CL games (Monaco games, CL final and Crotone game, what else). Otherwise Alves was our starting RB, playing with Cuadrado, since we were playing 4-2-3-1 majority of the time. Come on. Only played RB once since he came back? If he didnt play in games it was because it was rotation/keeping him fit. But we only changed to the 3-4-2-1 because Cuadrado form became very bad.

Not to mention how we set up was very fluid, it was only if Cuadrado wasnt playing that he was given more attacking duties, but otherwise the flexibility of the playing style was evident in games depending on off or on the ball even if we started off 4-2-3-1 (or 4-4-1-1) majority of the time.
