Zampa: 'Stronger without Pastore'
Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini believes his men can win the Coppa Italia against Inter and “this team would be stronger without Javier Pastore.”

The fiery patron also aimed another sideswipe at Coach Delio Rossi, whose contract expires in June.

“Rossi’s future here depends on whether he accepts the wages I’ll propose. He hasn’t understood yet that we will all pass through, but the fans remain. The important thing in life is to do things with love. If we both love Palermo and the supporters, then it can be done.”

Over the past few weeks Zamparini has declared star Pastore is not for sale, then set a €100m price-tag, but changed tack yet again.

“I love Pastore like a son and remember when he first arrived here that his shoes were too tight. I drove him to the store and together we chose better sneakers. That’s when he realised the human qualities of his President.

“Pastore is a great talent and will be the trequartista of the next 10 years, no doubt winning the Ballon d’Or. He was hurt by criticism this season and that’s hard for a 21-year-old to take.

“However, if we did sell him, then with the money he’d bring in we would make a stronger team without Pastore.

“Could someone in Italy invest in Pastore? I think so. One has already hinted at it, a club that wants to get back into the top of Italian football, while another threw in some bait.”

Among those linked with a push for Pastore are Juventus, Inter, Milan and Roma.

Meanwhile, Palermo can take silverware this season, as they face Inter in the Coppa Italia Final next week.

“I am convinced that we can win it, but if that doesn’t happen then it won’t be a disaster.”

So im not sure if someone has posted it already but I just read that Zamparini has now stated Pastore is now Pricelss. So form 50m now to Priceless. Hes also not for sale now unless Pastore himself hands in an official transfer request. I really feel sorry for Pastore because his stupid President has pumped him up soooo much without play a single european game and with such a huge price tag hes destined to flop. There are only a hand full of team that can afford him and the teams that can afford him almost guaranteed he'll start on the bench due to his lack of experience and with all the pressure that comes along with a big money move he will not succeed. His confidence will be shot. Lets say Juve do sign him and with Juve im sure he'll start but again the pressure on him to succeed at a club that demands alot from their players from their fans I just don know if he'll be able to handle it and its all Zamparinis fault for publicly stating his greatness over and over and over again. Zamparini said it himself pastore didnt have the best season this year because of the pressure. Then he goes off and says Palermo will be better without him because of the players we can buy with his transfer fee. I think he has officially ruined this player.

i think when Zamparini said the first club ask me about Pastore that club wants to get back into top Italian football
he meant Roma not Juve because the new American management for Roma and their new director Sabatini
admit when they arrived to Roma their main target for them in this mercato is Pastore

:agree:

Also, Marotta said once Pastore is not good enough to carry this Juventus forward. Let’s see who that quality player that will let us win again.

I dont feel sorry for him. Hes doin fine in sicily.
Fair enough and most likely with that price tag hes going to stay in Sicily for awhile. Again ill state I do feel sorry for him because his best years of learning and growing he'll be busy carrying a team instead of learning and playing with Champions to whatever team may buy him. He is 21 and has a team looking up to him to make something happen. He should be at a club where its about all 11. Hes 21 with a 100m price tag with no international club experience no major awards and has his owner calling him pricelss. Im sorry bit that has potential to ruin any player. I hope he is very mentally strong.

Messi and CR7 are who they are now because of the clubs they joined. Obviously they both have amazing natural talent but what made them the top 2 players in the world is because Cristiano joined ManU and Messi joined Barca. Both teams the stress team work and no one is bigger then the team. With Pastore its Pastore and the other 10 guys. I hope im wrong but I do think unless Zamparini starts taking off the pressure on him and not talking about him every freakin week this kid is going to turn into a flop whenever he moves on.

Not worth anything more than 15 million euros. Knowing this, Juventus will purchase him for 30 million euros in hopes that he'll carry the team, but when he doesn't he'll be dubbed as the new Diegomilos and will be thrown away for 10 million euros.

I wouldn't say no to him either, so long as he isn't brought in for his FAIR price (~15 million euros). If Palermo wants some of Juventus' trash then by all means let them go hog-wild, but I doubt that will be the case. If it happens, it'll be a cash-only deal.

Here's my issue with this transfer: if they spend big bucks on this guy, they're going to make this out to be some kind of superstar signing (see: Diego). This most certainly isn't the case. He's 21 and he's a building block. He's not going to help this team IMMEDIATELY, and Juventus is in need of IMMEDIATE help. If Pastore comes with a solid proven player like Aguero, then okay. However, if he's going to be THE player that they spend 30 million euros on and tell us that he's a gift for the fans, yawn...see you in 8th place next year.

I don't agree that Palermo has crapy team. They have good squad. Balzareti and Cassani are better than Motta and Grosso, Pastor, Ilicic, Micoli, Pinila are also good players. I expected more from Palermo this season especially after beating us 3-1 in October.
