this is not Sim City, it's real life...have you forgotten the days of a half-empty Delle Alpi? that was a 70k capacity stadium which we could never fill
Ok i recall that, but back then fans had to pay double what they pay on a ticket just to get to Turin so obviously if someone's gotta do it its gonna be on big matches only and in those we had reasonable fans in the stadium. But seriously if we do that "Juve Bus" thing it would be great IMO for both the club and supporters and it aint that hard to make it a reality it would only cost around 1m at most to buy about 25 buses scattered all around Italy.

That doesn't work man, how many people exactly do you wish to pack into a single bus? 25 busses would hardly get you anywhere, especially since you insist on having 60k or more.

My advice: let it go. :p

With simple math, every bus fits for lets say about 40 people and we have 25 buses so its 1000 fans going to the stadium and that on a small scale imagine if we have 100 buses then it would be 4,000 fans and so on...
but whatever man i was i just trying to give a solution, coz really its a shame to have a 40k new-stadium while other clubs are trying to get rid of their own 45k stadium for the sake of new ones like Liverpool.

This is just how it is in Italy, especially for Juve, busses won't change it unfortunately. It would help a bit but never enough and it's just not really possible to realize all that. We have to live with the fact there aren't that many fans in Turin and 40k is probably fine for us.

Besides, a 40k English-style stadium filled with Juventini doesn't sound bad at all. It's a giant step forward to creating a unique atmosphere. I, for one, can't wait.

Do we make some kind of money from the fans in for example Sicily. I mean, wherever this team goes there is plenty of Juventinis. The question is, do they take advantage of that?

The home team keeps all the money from fans in the stadium, if that is what you mean.

Juve primarily make money off these other fans, as far as I can tell, through the number of fans a team has being considered when TV money is split up (this may change as I think the money is to be split more evenly in future).

Unless they get a portion of the gate receipts at away matches, then no.

Like taking advantage of the Asian market? If only there was a way without having to start mediocre players.

So, how many of the people bitching about the capacity around these parts have actually ever bothered to go watch a game?

Remark: it's not only about the city of Turin hosting more Torino fans (which I sincerely doubt, based on personal experiences), but also the location of the Stadium, ticket prices, kick off times, ...

I've seen Juve twice, not in Turin.

40k is perfect, not too big and too small. Our average attendance right now is around 23-25k so with the new stadium and all, i would say it probably will increase to around 30-32k.

40 thousand is exactly what i hoped the new stadium capacity would be at. The atmosphere will be great

I would think with the hotels and cororate hospitality, coupled with the fact that this will be a unique stadium in Italy with have us filling it almost every week, season average around 38K.

The new stadium looks expandable. Other stadiums of simular design have been expanded, so why not ours? The design is very simple, plus it is built into the ground. Adding a third tier probably won't be a problem.
The San Siro was built in 1925, for only 35.000 (standing!) spectators. Now it takes around 80.000 sitting spectators. Another stadium that I can think of is Old Trafford which looks just wierd because it has been changed so much. The Bernabeu and Nou Camp were built in the 40's and 50's respectively and have grown and changed tremendously since then

Blanc said that the stadium was built with the state of the world financial situation in mind so I guess it means not spending too much when times are difficult. So cross your fingers.

Blanc hails 'innovative' Juve arena Tuesday 10 November, 2009

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

President Jean-Claude Blanc admires the progress on the new Juventus arena. “In 2011 we’ll have one of the most innovative stadiums in Europe.”

Work has already begun in earnest on the restructuring work based on the site of the old Stadio Delle Alpi.

Turin Mayor Sergio Chiamparino paid a visit today to check on progress and in around 600 days the new 100m Euro venue should be inaugurated.

This is our mission,” declared Blanc. “The objective the Board of Directors set three years ago has been followed without taking anything away from the sporting resources.

“In May 2011 Juventus will have one of the most innovative stadiums in Europe, with fans physically closer to the pitch and an integrated commercial area covering 35,000 square metres.

We will make the new stadium our calling card, just as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester United have done.

“It is with them we must compare and contrast, including in terms of generating income from the stadium.”

Juventus will be the first club in Serie A to own their stadium, as all others rent the arena from the local council.

Consequently there are few marketing ties in the structure and the revenue generated from the fans is split.

Juve calculate their income from the stadium should double to 40m Euros under the new system.

They currently share the Stadio Olimpico with Torino, but that venue will become solely Toro’s from 2011 and renamed Stadio Grande Torino.

Pretty sure that in Italy the teams split the gate receipts 50/50, unless the rules have changed in recent seasons!?
