Talking about major leagues in Europe its impossible to say the Epl is not a major league

Whether you like it or not is immaterial as its probably the most popular league in the world, not saying its the best but in almost every country in the world the Epl is known

The major leagues are La liga, Epl and SerieA

Now SerieA is losing its sheen and its very vital that the 4 reps do very well in Europe this season and the clubs in Uefa too as before we know it, they will be reduced to 3 and Bundesliga will be given the 4th place

Bundesliga well has come up on leaps and bounds but its maybe a shade just below the top 3

The French, dutch, turkish, portuguese league then follow

Now before the knives come out, ask yourselves how many players will in their prime go from Italy. spain, or England to Holland, France, or Portugal, well money plays a big part in whats perceived the major league not necessarily quality

Players leave Holland for the money - same thing goes for France. You cannot possible take into consideration which players leave and when they do that.

I could agree with you about EPL being better than the Dutch and French divisions but it's not as good as La Liga or SerieA. Popularity isn't in the debate here either 'cause then EPL would beat the crap out of every other division!

The Bundesliga plain stinks. Bayern München has made sure that the Germans got some points but other than that it's certainly no better than the Dutch or French divisions!

Leverkusen got beat up big time by a Greek club and it's in big trouble in the domestic league as well and the champions (Dortmund) lost to Feyenoord last season!!

Okay if you want to go down that root then lets compare results fo EPL when they have met SerieA teams recently starting with Juventus

Juve 1 Arsenal 3
Juve 1 Arsenal 0
Juve 2 Man united 3
Man united 1 Juve 1

Chelsea 0 Milan 0
Milan 1 Chelsea1
Chelsea 1 Lazio 2]]
Lazio 0 Chelsea0

Leeds 1 Milan 0
Milan 1 Leeds 1
Leeds 1 Roma0
Roma0 Leeds 0

Arsenal 2 lazio 0

Lazio 1 Arsenal 1

Arsenal 0 Fiorentina 1

Fiorentian 1 Arsenal 1

Man united 3 Fiorentiuna1
Fiorentina 2 Man united 0

Liverpool 2 Ro,ma0
Roma 0 Liverpool0
Roma 0 Liverpool 2
Liverpool0 Roma 1

Now these are what i can remember from the top of my head and it can be checked up on to verify but i do not see how Serie a has dominated Epl with this head to head

But La liga will show you a different picture

I agree that SerieA's level has gone down a bit in recent years and I'll admit that the three large English teams (Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool) have had quite some successes in Europe.

But it's not just the big teams that do it. When compared to the EPL - La Liga and SerieA have tougher mid-tables IMO!

How about this embarassment

Ipswich town 1 inter 0

Ipswich were bottom of Epl then and Inter were top of SerieA

Do not get me wrong , i do prefer the serieA, hence i am in this forum but i do not agree with those who say the middle teams in Serie A are very tough as they really are not and as for the Epl for me apart from Arsenal, Man united Liverpool(who i hate), Leeds united and to some extent Chelsea and Newcastle the rest are a scandal at times

Now in Italy, apart from the big 4, Lazio and Chievo are okay but the rest are from average to bad as Bologna were put out by Fulham, Parma are in transition

But i guess Uefa will paint a better picture about the mid table teams

    According to UEFA ranking

EPL, La Liga and SERIA A
    are on equal terms

    but in my opinion
    La Liga

is one class better then the other two......

which competition is harder la liga, or serie a?

i mean liga has 4 especially good teams as does seriea,
    but
serie also has lots of second tier teams like chievo, atalanta, who would be more difficult than second tier teams in spain? or am i wrong here,

coz if liga is weaker as a competition than serie a, then wouldn't that eqaute to better performances in the champions league, since they can rest their good players when they play some of the lower spanish teams, however i duno much about la liga, so can someone please clear this up? its obvious i don't think high of la liga cept valencia :D

If the 4 best teams in la liga are RM,Barca, Valencia and Depor then the 2nd tier in Spain might be Celta Vigo, Real Betis, Real Soceildad, Athletico Bilbao and Athletico Madrid then it is a very very high quality 2nd tier
