Buffon
Oddo - Nesta - Cannavaro - Zambrotta
Camoranesi - Pirlo - Gattuso
Totti
Inzaghi - Del Piero

I want to see Del Piero and Inzaghi up front, just like the good old days at Juve.
I want a win.

Zaccardo is the biggest heap of dung i have ever seen to be wearing the sacred azzurri jersey. Ive never seen such a weak Italian right back til now! so we do have a weak link in our defence, and the rest of the world now know it.

Zambro warns 'diver' Nedved Monday 19 June, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pavel Nedved faces many of his Juventus teammates on Thursday and Gianluca Zambrotta has warned him not to con the referee.

“It’s not true that Pavel is a serial diver, but if he does try to get clever, I’ll deal with him,” smiled the full-back ahead of the crunch match in Group E.

Zambrotta returned from a thigh injury and was one of the Azzurri’s best players in the much-criticised 1-1 draw against the United States, but he assures the fans have reason to remain optimistic, as a draw is enough to see them through.

“We have two results at our disposal to reach the final 16, so we’re not worried. Obviously, this team started out to win the World Cup and that’s what we continue to hope, but there can be many factors involved in picking the winner.”

Marcello Lippi blamed the poor performance against America on complacency caused by the Italian media’s excessive praise after the Ghana win, but the Press has now gone in completely the opposite direction.

“What irritates me is the fact that there is no balance when it comes to talking about the Nazionale in Italy,” added Zambrotta. “After the 2-0 over Ghana it was as if we were already in the Final, then just five days later we’re treated like minnows making their World Cup debut. It’s excessive, but by now we know how it works in Italy.”

The Juventus defender saw his career given a whole new lease of life by Lippi, who transformed him from a right winger to a left-back, so he knows the Coach well and is impressed by the new attitude brought to the side.

“We are more determined and convinced of our abilities than in the past. We prepare for games in a different way, as we act like a club side. We all know what we want: to go all the way in this competition.”

However, the former Bari man could also use this World Cup as a shop window, as he refused to commit his future to Juventus with the Calciopoli scandal still hanging over their heads.

“Juve are one of the greatest clubs in the football firmament and I have a contract until 2010. I haven’t decided anything yet, as we’ll have to wait and see the verdicts and what the club’s intentions are. Real Madrid are interested in me? It’s obviously pleasing to know, but they are the Galacticos and I’m not.”

I still cant make up my mind what Lippi will go with. Oddo or Grosso. I hope Lippi finally sees Zaccardo's ability and does the right thing. Look what Ghana did to after benching howler Kuffour - resolute defending (Though Czech attacking was poor)

The grilling the media is giving the Azzuri makes me wonder what the 1982 world cup winning team must have got from the media given that they initially barely made it into the 2nd round with 3 draws

italy asked for this really..from the stupidity of de rossi, to the weak midfield( it was really embrassing enough that pirlo had to do all the dirty work)...and why did i have the feeling that del piero was running away from the ball...although he had some good chances..but still...i had high hopes of him...luca was a big disappointment too..cannvaro is still a solider...no matter what he gives you 110 %.....italy ave to win it against czech (although a draw would quilfy them) but they have to answer all those critics that are doubthing italy...

We could see:

----------------------- Buffon
Zambrotta -- Nesta ---- Cannavaro --- Grosso
---Camoranesi -- Gattuso --- Pirlo
---------------------Totti
------------- Toni/Pippo -- Del Piero

And if it happens, this could be the best Italian formation :)

Bruckner has limited options 19/06/2006
------------------------------------------------------------------
The Czech Republic will struggle to field a strong side for their clash with Italy on Thursday.

Karel Bruckner's options look limited, especially in attack as his side prepare for what could well be their final game at this summer's final.

Milan Baros and Jan Koller are struggling with injuries while Vratislav Lokvenc has been ruled out of the crucial clash through suspension.

Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi will also be on the sidelines after his straight red card against Ghana.

Bruckner said: "We have yet to decide on the replacements but we need to bring young players in to strengthen the team.

"We worked hard against Ghana and I could not fault my players for a lack of effort.

"We lost a goal early and that damaged us. It left us facing an uphill battle.

"But I have to congratulate Ghana as their attacking play was extraordinary."

If the Czech's lose to Italy on Thursday they will be eliminated at the group stage but a draw will not be enough either if Ghana can defeat the USA.

So they said Baros and Koller are still injured while Lokvenc is suspended...that left only Marek Heinz available for their attack.

earlier i posted a news about baros taking part of training. i think bruckner wants to surprise italy and keep baros situation as a secret. the game is on thursday, i think baros will play, i am not so sure if from start, but as a subs.

There is just too much on cost, even if baros is not fully fit he will play. (i think)

Ofcourse bruckner is a smart coach who would not risc with player who isnt fully fit and could get injured again, but this situation is differant. its about staying in world cup or start packing, koller will be back in the next stage, so they might risk with baros imo.

OK, sure, that was the case. And I haven't been much of a fan of Inzaghi ever since, and specially when he went to Milan.

However, I think he's right for the job. All the personal crap has to be put aside and the win achieved. Period.

according to the news what i posted, he got injured at the start of june

http://www.juventuz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1078025&postcount=191

so more then two weeks he was out and recovering

So it is not a long term injury....if he start the game he would not be out of form.

It is to be or not to be for them,so we should expect him in the game. They will start offensive...

---------Baros---------
--Nedved---Rosicky---

or like you said Baros may enter later in the game.

If Bruckner will be without all his top three strikers, he will probably field Marek Heinz up top by himself, who really will not give them much. But he can hold up the ball to some extent; Karl should have brought Tomas Jun with him to Germany.

Cech

Grygera - Jiranek - Rozenhal - Jankulovski

Poborsky - Galasek - Plasil

Rosicky - Nedved

Heinz

Italy should be able to win this match..

anyway its not that could for italy, either way.

Who knows what could have happened if italy and czechs would have met last week, what i mean is that brukner knows now what where the mistakes why they lost to ghana, he can make tactical changes even if baros and koller are both out. he can analyse what where the biggest problems and etc.
They will be well prepared for this game, ghana was a wakeup call for them.

But then again, they will miss key player in defens, ulfajusi.

italy midfield has to play well in this match, especially rino-pirlo who will have to keep back nedved and rosicky.

Even if they miss strikers, those two have a good shot on goal.
