Walter Novellino appealed to Palermo fans after they threw fireworks in a 3-0 home defeat to Lazio. “I don’t have a magic wand.”

The Rosanero remain in the relegation zone and will face heavy fines following the crowd trouble at the Stadio Barbera.

Play had to be suspended three times for fireworks and paper bombs thrown on to the pitch, including one that exploded just seconds after Antonio Candreva ran over it.
Even after the final whistle, around 300 Palermo fans waited outside the stadium for the team bus.

“I won’t give up,” Novellino told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“Obviously this is not a happy situation. This is the campaign we are having. We have many young players and had started the game well, but after that goal at the first chance our heads dropped.

“We never went one-on-one with the full-backs, we allowed too much room down the wings. We went too narrow, which against Keita Balde Diao and Antonio Candreva is inadvisable.

“Right now the team is above all suffering psychologically, so we prepare well and then as soon as we concede it all falls apart. We become unable to do the things we can so easily in training.”

Since taking over, he has managed just one point from four games, scoring one goal and conceding seven.

Palermo also kept an average of 36 per cent possession, worse than any other Serie A side in the same period.

“We need to bring something to the fans, but we need them too. The statistics don’t back us up and I will admit I wasn’t expecting it to be this difficult, but I don’t have a magic wand.

“If the team can bring out that character, it can emerge from this situation. We played really well against Napoli and Empoli, but we are lacking self-belief. Clearly it is not a positive moment for us.

“Our heads are down, the environment around us wasn’t helping either, especially as we have many young players who are not accustomed to this sort of situation. Even then, I expected more tonight.”

I love that they start if off with 'protesta seria'. None of those things make people take you remotely seriously. I also love 4). Who exactly "they" are and why "they" will lose money if Napoli fans bet 50 euros on Juventus to win the title is not explained. Presumably we now own all betting agencies too. And I got to say I'm curious as to what number 6 was. This moron actually deleted it because it was too stupid - unlike the other 5?

Inter’s season deserves 'a 6/10 mark’ according to director Piero Ausilio, who wants to 'build the team around Mauro Icardi’.

The Nerazzurri had been leading the Serie A table in January but have since slid down the standings to fourth place and now face an uphill struggle to reach the Champions League.

“I would give Inter a 6/10 for this season,” Ausilio told Radio Anch’io lo Sport.

“I repeat that at the start of the season nobody thought Inter would be in this position. The 6/10 could be improved, but I don’t feel like giving a low mark to our season.

“Icardi is too important a player to deprive ourselves of. At his age nobody had already scored 50 goals, he’s our captain and we will build the team around him.

“We’re trying to do everything possible to get back to the top positions in the table.

“Italianise Inter? I would like to a lot, Eder is a signal in that direction. We’re trying to but it isn’t easy.

“Biabiany and Icardi are two players who arrived in our country many years ago and can be considered almost Italian.”

Now seriously :D

Yes, our Italian core is fantastic as well with Lichtsteiner, Asamoah and Rubinho leading the way.
Only two more seasons and Pogba will become Italian too :tuttsport:

I mean such statements can kinda makes sense in terms of "usual" migration, but not within the context of football.

Sarri named Coach of the Year
By Football Italia staff

Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri has been named as Football Leader Coach of the Year, voted for by leading journalists.

The Partenopei boss took over from the club last summer after leaving Empoli and has immediately managed to launch a Scudetto challenge, a vast improvement from last season’s fifth-place finish.

The prize was voted on by a jury including Gianluca Di Marzio and leading figures from media outlets Mediaset, Gazzetta dello Sport, Tuttosport, Corriere dello Sport, Sky Sport Italia, Rai, Guerin Sportivo and the AIAC (Italian Association of Coaches).

The Football Leader website explained the reasons behind the choice to award the prize to Sarri.

“For having led Napoli with personality and intelligence, giving a precise tactical identity and introducing a spectacular, winning and international game,” read the statement on football-leader.it.

“Thanks to his coaching methods and management he’s also contributed to the growth and enhancement of Napoli’s squad.”

The prize will be handed to Sarri during an event in Amalfi on the 24-26 May.

Only in Italy can you be sent off 3 times in a year as a coach some of which for arguing with a ref or insulting the other coach's sexuality and not win anything and still be handed top coach honors.

The worst part of all this is that Inter got their name from their willingness to accept foreigners. Foreigners are part of Inter's identity, it's literally what they are. Fuckers can't even get their own history right.

Yes ofcourse.

I'm pretty sure he said that part about italianize Inter because of the upcoming rules where you have to 8 players developed in Italy and 4 in your own academy/team from teen years til 21. They dont necessarily have to be Italian, just fit the above requirement, tho most will ofcourse be italian. For example Nainggolan will count as amongst the 8 domestic players since he been in Italy since he was 15-16 years old. Biabiany will count as an Inter own product since he been part of their youth set up from same age. Icardi fullfills the domestic part barely I'm guessing, came as a 18 year old 5 years ago.

Too bad I'm guessing Pogba wont qualify as one for us (domestic) in coming years, since he joined when he was 19. A year earlier and it would been ideal, need to spend atleast 3 years between 16 and 21.

At this point in time Inter should just accept their fate and become a sattelite club for us imo. If they are still fighting and unwilling to obey our orders, we should euthanize them.
