Is it just Napoli FC or is it a whole South vs North in Italy thing here. I watch the sopranos and even in that show they like to paint the Northerners as cheaters. Why is this hostility?

You have North v. South but you also have even smaller more regional conflicts like Siena v. Firenze, Napoli v. Caserta..

Napoli want Higuain ban halved
By Football Italia staff

Napoli’s lawyer confirms the club will ask for Gonzalo Higuain’s four-game ban to be halved.

The striker was hit with a four-game ban after his red card in the defeat to Udinese, as he was deemed to have pushed and insulted referee Massimiliano Irrati.

We’re talking about a delicate moment in the game in a very limited time-frame,” Mattia Grassani told Radio 24.

We want to re-classify his actions which weren’t offensive, because he didn’t offend the referee and his gesture wasn’t offensive but defensive, as it was Irrati who went to Higuain.

“A balanced punishment would be two games, that’s what we’re asking for. Alternatively we’ll ask for a reduction from four to three games.

“The motivations [for the decision] didn’t convince us, and a major reason is the report from the referee, Irrati.

“We believe the judgement of being abusive or insulting because of the word 'shameful’ and having a disrespectful attitude because of the hands on the chest are things which should be reassessed in the Court of Appeals.

“Four games is unjust, and we’re looking for a significant reduction in his suspension.

“As a defender of the rules and a lover of sport I don’t think there’s a conspiracy against Napoli.”

I really don't know who is more crazy,their officials ,Higuain's brother-agent or the lawyer?I think the lawyer,definitely.
Probably he snorted a highway of coke before stating this bullshit talk.
"We are talking about a DELICATE moment in the game" ..... he says.Udinese lead 3-1 ,15 minutes before the end.Such a delicate moment.
"He didn't offend the referee AND HIS GESTURE WASN'T OFFENSIVE BUT DEFENSIVE,AS IT WAS IRATTI WHO WENT TO NIGUAIN.
I can't believe this.Let's punish Iratti.These guys are unbelievable.

Napoli are by far the dirtiest team in Italy. Its incredible that they would even tolerate such shenanigans. Forget the referee episode, Higuain even abused and pushed as member of their technical staff, had that happened at any club that had some dignity, the player would've faced heavy sanctions. It's a classic case of player being bigger than club in this scenario. In these instances, success would always be hard to come by. They are probably the least sporting club in the world. Iirc, they were angry with Parma for fighting their way back in that 2-2 draw, their claim being that Parma was due to be relegated and had no business playing like they had an interest in serie a. I also remember their coppa game against us when they didn't come out while we recieved our medals. Shocking really that this club even gets to compete on such a stage. I hope Roma overtake them and represent Italy in the CL. Spalletti is probably more in line with sporting principals and ability than Garcia anyway.
That says it all. They were angry because Parma was actually trying to win the game instead of just giving them the Victory. What a dirty, pathetic excuse of a club. A club should be fined and Higuan should be baned for such discusting behaviour.

In the incident on sunday the referee was clearly trying to walk away from the situation and Higuan got in his way and gave him a light push. Maybe the punishment is a bit excessive but the defense of the Napoli lawyers stating that the referee walked into Higuan is just retarded.

The punishment wasn't excessive, if anything he should have been given longer ban. He went full retard and decided to pick a fight with everyone around him, regardless was it his teammate, opponent or member of Napoli's technical staff. It's also not his first time. Napoli appealing this decision says it all really, instead of fining him, which they should have done.

The club is now preparing an appeal through lawyer Mattia Grassani, who will attempt to prove that the striker was not pushing the referee but only holding him back as he advanced, and that his protests did not include any obscenity.
Gianpaolo Tosel, the sports judge who decided on Higuain's ban, was the subject of a prank call by a Napoli radio, who attempted to interview him before the ban itself was made public.

The judge's interaction with the Press constitutes a breach of protocol, as the contents of a disciplinary decision should not be communicated to the Press before the release of an official statement.

Tosel now faces disciplinary action himself, and many believe the radio's trap was deliberate. However, he will attempt to demonstrate that the contents of his statement were not controversial and were in line with protocol requirements.

If it was just a double yellow card then he'd only be facing a 1 match suspension, but he went full retard and now is trying to blame everyone but him.

“I'm sorry lads, I'm sorry,” Higuain told his teammates, according to Il Mattino. “But I've done nothing wrong. I didn't push the referee, he was the one who was coming towards me.”

Yup, lols at this was just a reaction to injustice and his love for the city like they could mask it with that bullshit.. Summer is around the corner, not the first time hes trying to stir shit up. Dude does think he is bigger than the club he represents.

I just don't see what there is to complain about. Bonucci got a yellow, standard procedure. Didn't push the ref. Higuain spat the dummy and go punished. Borja Valero did far less and got the same punishment. Sarri complaining about playing at lunchtime, so if we lost could we complain that we got one less day rest despite half our team being on national duty? Ridiculous. It's better this way, they don't know what to do anymore. Napoli will collapse.

Even if they won scudetto they still would turn out the way they did. To poorly managed to be any threat to us over the last few years. Whoever wrote that should fire himself and then commit suicide maybe or become a man whore
