Every year, before the season start, I publish on Facebook my predictions for Serie A.
A friend today pointed out I managed to predicted a lot of things right (a couple of big mistakes too)
... this is what i wrote (note: market was still open, Serie A had not started yet):
"I believe Juventus and Roma have got something more then the others; Roma has a slight advantage as they have changed very little. Salah can be a monster but can also be a nuisance. Dzeko will fail: anyone watching the EPL can say that, you wonder if Sabatini has a subscription to Sky Sports sometimes. Their real problem is called Totti and how bad an influence he can be on the changing room: this can be the real negative factor for them.
Juve will have to deal with a lot of new and young players. I think we did real well on the market: Mandzukic is an experienced striker and a fighter; Dybala one of the greatest talents around and Alex Sandro is top in his role in Europe. If Zaza will have some self-confidence he will be a great back up for Morata and Manzu. Khedira is a monster but also very fragile; Asamoah can be a "new" purchase and Rugani is an exciting prospect. Neto is a great back up for Buffon.
I can see AC Milan in the top 3/5; they don't have any CL and a focused coach. They spent a lot on the market and not always well in my opinion but if Ibra will arrive (I doubt it) they can be 3rd place contenders for sure.
Another title contender will be Napoli. Sarri is a smart coach (except when he sings his anti-juve chants like his demented President). The only doubt is: how will the fans react to the first inevitable issues? Napoli tends to get on fire easily but also gets easily depressed. Higuain has probably his last chance to prove his worth. If he does, they'll be there fighting for the title.
Inter: it's a bit of a deja-vu: market to impress their impressionable fans but very confused. Mancini obtained every single player he asked for. Truth is: they had 3 skilled players, Shaquiri, Kovacic and Icardi: 2 were sold. Mancini is a liability, they will make it in Europa League but cannot see them doing better then the previous 4.
Surprises of the season: I will go with Fiorentina and Torino that will stay with the top teams at least until the end of january. Lazio will struggle, the technical project seems confused. Sampdoria will be a disaster, Zenga is the most incompetent italian coach around and will not eat his panettone.
Relegation battle: Carpi, Frosinone, Verona and Empoli to battle it out, Empoli will struggle with all the sales and losing Sarri will be hard to digest."
