Look at the quality of stadiums in Italy and england, ffs look at the cameras and their positioning and quality in serie A (quality level slum) and epl. We just cannot have that quality of telecast and hope to capture a market. You guys think players prefer epl to serie A because we have three spots? Or because the huge difference in revenue is because of only 3 teams in serie A?

No one cares, if even two serie A teams manage to establish a huge fan base in asiabthe money we get from tv rights and sponsors would shoot up massively, sadly we just are ages behind epl and laliga when it comes to quality promotion and marketing.

We did have 4 cl spots not long a ago, still the tv revenues and whatever sources pay epl more than us always did the same, it does not matter. France has a shit league, yet monaco and psg manage to sign whoever they want. Yeah they are backed by filthy rich owners but we should break outta the bubble that getting 4 CL spots for serie a would suddenly make players prefer us or serie A would earn more money and close the finiancial gap to epl.

So fuck the co efficients, i hope viola get their ass handed to them and roma are humiliated by everyone.

It's a multitude of things, not just the stadiums and the production values which makes the EPL so appealing, it's the style of football.

We score, you score, we score, you score. It's playstation football, this makes for a great spectacle and thus pulls in the viewers. Tactics go out the window in England that's why the league is so successful in terms of viewership across the globe.

Italy will never appeal to the masses because of the style of play and because it's tactics-orientated. Even when Serie A was the greatest league in the history of the sport in the '80s and '90s it didn't get massive viewers across the world. In the UK where it was on free TV it only managed about 3 million viewers every Sunday, at its peak.

The EPL is a dumbed-down version of football, and the masses love it.
Gotta be honest this always puzzles me . I know that people refer to this as exciting , but I don't like it personally , saw the city - crystal palace match before they played juve and althrough there weren't many goals in the match the english type of football was very present . As soon as they get the ball the team pushes forward and the same goes with the other team , this leads to both teams leaving a lot of space and the chances for goal are plenty , but at the same time the game is too chaotic and messy imho . Also its a very wasteful method of football , because althrough they score a lot , counting all the going back and forth they do the ball is lost a gazillion times in wrong passes or interceptions from the opposition . I am neither a city fan nor a crystal palace fan , but everytime they lost the ball in those fast counter attacks I got frustrated , I don't even know how I would feel if I was a fan of one of the teems or even worse if I was the coach of those teaams . Fast counter attacks aren't bad at all imho , but when there are no solutions forwards its good to step back a little and reorganize , most of the time they continue pushing forward and lose the ball .

Now except that I don't like it (I can understand why some people do though) , this type of football imho needs cooperation from both teams , because if one of them parks the bus like small teams do in serie a with 9 players that always stay in their own half and attack with only 2 , max 3 players , the other team would have no way to employ this tactic because it would be fairly useless . This truly baffles me , isn't there anyone intelligent enough to freaking use this fact ? And there are actually a lot of intelligent people imho , even if we assume a priori that english managers would like playing like this or don't know how to play differently (which I wouldn't bet on) , england is still full with foreign managers , but unfortunately in general everybody conforms to this style of football althrough imho they could gather much better results if they change their philosophy a little .

Can anyone provide some stats on what is the difference between the number of goals scored across the top leagues?

Coz i remember quiet a few times members posting on how it's a myth and serie A actually has more goals scores. From what i can find the difference isn't much, goals scored per match is something like 2.55 for serie A to 2.65 for EPL.

But yeah, the fast moving chaotic epl that lacks "technical input" is more watchable for an average user. Like JuveJay said language is also a big factor. Like in india I've always have had the same two lethargic english commentators in serie a games ever since i can remember. Not those passionate sometimes silly excited epl guys. And i really really hate the telecast quality difference man, how do they not see something so obvious?

Last season the goals per game average was higher in Italy than it was in England, and every other top league

Serie A 2.77
Bundesliga 2.66
La Liga 2.66
EPL 2.57
Ligue 1 2.49

Thx for that.

That's what i mean, epl has more goals (or substantially more goals) than serie A is a myth that might have beenntrue once but even then it was marginal.

I've stopped watching the premier league for about 7-8 years now and just started to watch some games last season and at the start of this season but I got to say, the pace of their games were extremely slow (mainly Chelsea, city and United).

It's funny cause I remember back 10-15 years ago premier league fans were calling serie A teams boring and static yet the premier league had increasingly became just that.

They still call their league fun and exciting but it's really isn't, I can't really stand watching most of the games there.

Is La Liga any better though? Barca for example is boring as hell to watch...Espanyol wasn't any better and neither was Malaga. And you can't even drink beer during games! :sergio:
