Gonzalo Higuain and Antonio Mirante’s row after Parma v Napoli was over a woman, claims the goalkeeper’s ex-girlfriend.
The pair clashed in ugly scenes following the final whistle of Parma’s 2-2 draw with Napoli, which put a huge dent in the Partenopei’s Champions League ambitions.
It was said at the time that Higuain had insulted Parma players, suggesting they shouldn’t have tried so hard considering they were already relegated.
However, Chiara told Sport Mediaset that there was more to this argument than meets the eye.
“I was Mirante’s girlfriend and we had a lovely relationship. It wasn’t a secret,” Neapolitan Chiara declared.
“One day Gonzalo Higuain sent me a direct message via Instagram and I could tell it was him, as the account was his official profile.
“He complimented me on my looks and asked if we could see each other. I immediately told Antonio, who did not take it well. He was furious.
“From that moment on we had problems in the relationship and later broke up. Was I the cause of the fight? You’d have to ask them…”
