Yeah but wit DP at least it wouldn't damaged the club, because DP is en example, yet even he had few moments of emotion, but in the end in the interviews managed to make it alright. While Totti is just completely different thing.
Well, Totti did win their last two games for them. When he came on vs Napoli you could tell it made all the difference in the world. Their biggest worry isn't Totti. It's that they are unable to find a 25-30 year old player of his calibre.

Stability, with 40 year old Totti, they can say to anything resembling stability goodbye.

Spalletti was winning matches and board and fans were upset that Totti wasn't playing, and of course he didn't do anything to lower the drama. They have to move on.

They do. But that means bringing in players that can replace him. Dzeko, Salah and Pjanic are not the same calibre at all. It's easier to move on from Del Piero if you have Tevez, Pirlo, Pogba..

We had only Pirlo back then. Most people criticized the board anyway, because our legend was thrown out of the club while there was room for scrubs like Bendtner and Anelka. Add to that the likes of Matri/Boriello etc.

They should just wave a goodbye to Totti and move on. He's already bigger than the club and that's a problem, mostly for the coach.

Well it seems he has higher ambitions currently

Di Natale is sixth in the all-time Serie A top-scorer list, and reveals he wants to catch Giuseppe Meazza in fourth.

“I won’t stop playing. I still have something to give, and I’ll try to chase down Meazza.”

Meazza scored 216 Serie A goals, while Toto is currently on 208.
