I love how since we are in CL final everyone in Italy had to acknowledge that we are far superior than anyone else, and they can't play "cheat"/"luck" card :D
:agree:

Fuck the haters, every Milan and Merda fan says the same shit. "they get favours every week, only reason they are winning all the time" Well fuck u guys we are in a CL final.

The full Rudi Garcia interview from Football Italia:

Rudi Garcia said Roma “won our tournament” because Juventus are a class above, but was “astonished” by criticism.

The Giallorossi host Palermo on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT), click here for a match preview.

“The highlight of the season was winning the Derby to give us direct access to the Champions League,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“What was the low point? I don’t know, I prefer to always keep good things in my mind.

“Looking over the season, I have to say we won our tournament, because Juve are basically in their own League.

“They are accustomed to winning, while their economic and sporting power is considerably more important than ours. They have their own stadium, won the Scudetto and are in the Champions League Final too.

“The Bianconeri are beyond reach, so we finished top of the table for the rest of Serie A and achieved our primary objective, which was to qualify for the Champions League.

“The gap will be even bigger next season, especially as we are restricted by Financial Fair Play rules.

“However, we won’t change our ambitions. I am here to win and I am ambitious. We never said our objective was anything other than to qualify for the Champions League.

“Papers made Roma into a candidate for the Scudetto, but the season showed the divide is too big for us. There’s no point taking fans for a ride.

“There is a big difference between objectives and ambitions. The President and I have great ambitions, but he too knows the beauty of this city, which was not built in a day.”

Roma were also second last term, but went out in the group stage of the UEFA competition.

“We learned from that experience in the Group of Death. Hopefully we’ll be third seeds and not fourth, as we ended up in an almost impossible group, yet until 30 minutes from the end we were almost qualified.”

Garcia defended his side’s season, which saw a massive dip in form and results after Christmas.

“A season is never a long and tranquil path. We had moments of difficulty, for example when there were fewer players at our disposal and many games to play.

“We overcame those, because when a team is second for 34 rounds it means the squad is fantastic.

“There will be a meeting with the President on Thursday in London and we’ll have clearer parameters for next season. Since I arrived the position has been clear, we need to sell in order to buy.

“I think we’re on the right track and this project is one of the best in world football. We must take it step by step, because one step too long can make us go back three. The lads showed character and pride.

“I was astonished that my team, which was second for practically the entire campaign, received so much criticism from the fans.

“Our supporters are intelligent and when it was important to have everyone behind us, we didn’t get that response. I think they were affected by excessive criticism in the media, which is not normal and I did not like.
“It’s not normal that we have better results on our travels than at home. It means in some moments it is tough to play at the Olimpico.
We have the best fans in the world and we are stronger with them behind us.

“I don’t want to experience that again and this is why I want us to be clear. I am the most ambitious person here.”

The Lupi are guaranteed second place ahead of arch rivals Lazio, no matter the score this weekend.

“I was never afraid of losing second, because I live with my players and know this squad never lacked character in difficult moments. We are united and moments of difficulty make the difference.”

“We have a game tomorrow and want to win it. Even if we don’t have any more objectives, I want the players to be professional in the final round of the season, as our fans deserve to see us get three points.”
Garcia.

Does he seriously forget saying this:

This game made me realize who will win the Scudetto. We are stronger than Juventus.

Why do I think we’ll win the Scudetto? I have my reasons, I’m sure you can figure them out.

This year we have to win it all. It won’t be easy, but we have to try.
Or Pallotta saying this:

For me, we are stronger than Juventus. Sunday's games was further proof of this, even if we eventually lost the game...
....we can win the Scudetto. We are very strong and have some great talents. We can only get better.

And then he whines about the media criticizing his team's performances. So fucking provincial.

This guy is a delusional retard.

Well, he's not wrong.
Of course he is. They spent big money on some purchases last year, and even Juve didn't spend that big. I admit they sold bug too, but the point is, it's bs when they acknowledge our superiority but put that down to money more than anything else. Fact is, sales or not, Roma had access to pretty decent resources to build a squad to challenge Juve, they dropped the ball. So now Juve are in a league of their own coz of our financial resources, fuck off with the sour grapes Garcia.

Nah, Juve is on another level compared to Roma. Just look at the revenues. Or squads.

What was ridicilous were his statements at the beginning of the season.

I don't think Juves stadium or spending power had anything to do with the fact that we have tactically outwitted the competition this season. We may have spending power, but don't forget they're the ones who spent 30m on Iturbe last season, and Juve maxed out at 20m on Mrata. It's how the money was used, not that there was no money. I disagree.

They could've put up more of a challenge for sure, but the only way they could've actually beaten us would have been a killer Mercato by them and a complete failure including seeling one or two key-players by us. Even if we would have signed Iturbe and they Morata we'd have won comfortably.

There's no way to figure this out, but I'd bet Morata would have done significantly worse with Roma, as CFs all seem to struggle when forced into that odd situation with Totti requiring playing time in that position.

I also think Iturbe would have done significantly better here.

Roma was just begging for implosion this year. All the ridiculous comments from Totti, De Sanctis, Garcia for months after that first loss... Those guys are supposed to be the leaders of that time, and they just completely destroyed any mental strength the players might have had after last season.

As a side note, Roma had to sell their best player from last year, Benatia, in order to fund the Iturbe buy. And they replaced him with Manolas who started fairly well, but got worse and worse. His positioning is terrible. So, they bought big, but they also sold big.

I agree that the rest of serie a can only blame themselves. We went back from serie b, had two seasons without European football yet we managed to rebuild ourselves. As you already said, Roma did spend big, Napoli had huge resources after Cavani and Lavezzi sales, Milan and Inter still have big revenues so if only those clubs were run in a proper way they would be much more competitive.

I mean sure, Roma could've done better, but in order for them to win the Scudetto something extraordinary would have had to happen (Allegri flopping, our key players getting sold/injured, their transfers working out extremely well,...)

In the long term, regarding the past couple of years, definitely.

Just talking about the past season, no. We're too far ahead for the gap to be closed in the space of a single year.
