Anyways I wouldn't call Sabatini a joke. He's been doing a good job at Roma.
Yep.

Not better than Marotta imo (though their positions are rather different anyways and it doesn't make much sense to compare them), but his work is solid.

Not that the Marotta haters in here wouldn't think he were the worst director to ever exist wwould they be Roma fans though.

Sabatini's rep is based on the ability to turn a large profit on players. He's found a number of bargains that have turned into very high value players in previous years. He has the advantage that he can sell these high value players unlike Beppe, and this makes him look good. People here complain all the time about Beppe not being able to sell the dead wood, but Sabatini has the exact same problem with their shit players, hence the reason Borriello remained on their books for so long.

However. Now that Roma are in a place where they think they should be competing for a scudetto, he's had a rather poor last two windows. Roma's summer mercato was disastrous. The amount of nonsense talk about Benatia and value, and then to sell him for 30 mil was pathetic, especially considering they attempted to replace him with Manolas who started somewhat brightly, but has been appalling lately and has a terrible tendency to commit moronic fouls in the box. Iturbe is an unmitigated disaster. They spent quite a bit of money on Ucan as well, and he can't even get sub appearances.

Winter mercato, it really doesn't look much better. Doumbia has missed over 50 matches in his last 3 seasons due to injury, and has never played in a top 4 league. And Ibarbo is a joke of a player. And loaning Destro with such a low fee for option to buy, considering his age, his form last year, and the price Roma paid for him two years ago, well, that's very poor also.

Even the Naingolan purchase wasn't some coup. They paid his value. He's not some 30mil player. He's a solid 15-20 mil value player. You can see it, by just how limited he is outside of acting the destroyer part. The number of absolutely retarded long range shots he attempts each game is hilarious considering he scores them so infrequently. His passing isn't anything to write home about, and his vision isn't all that special. He's a very good tackler.

Oh. That loss of Jedvaj to Leverkusen too. For a team with such a poor backline, and considering they've spent 7 mil on a terrible Mbiwa, to have sold Jedvaj for only 7 mil (after paying 5 mil to buy him two years ago), as one of the brightest young defenders in the Bundesliga, that's just embarrassing.

There was an insulting banner greeting Roma as they arrived at training today: 'Shame on you. You’re pathetic!’The Giallorossi players drove in to the Trigoria training ground this morning to prepare for Sunday’s match against Verona.
A large banner was hanging outside the gate, clearly in view of all who went into the camp.
'Shame on you. You’re pathetic!’ was the message from ultras.

There are reports Nemanja Vidic had a row with Roberto Mancini during the Celtic game and is due to leave Inter.

According to Tuttosport, Vidic was supposed to come off the bench in Glasgow during the 3-3 Europa League draw on Thursday.

However, when called to get ready, the former Manchester United defender took a suspiciously long time putting on his shinpads.

This gave the impression he wasn’t happy about going on to the pitch and Coach Mancini spotted this attitude, changing his mind about the substitution.

Tuttosport also suggest this is the end of an already-tense rapport between Mancini and Vidic, so the Serbian will have to go elsewhere next season.

He had already fallen down the pecking order behind Andrea Ranocchia, while Dias Felipe is likely to sign on as a free agent after he left Parma.

 Tevez refusing to come on for man city much?

Roma fans are pathetic tbh. Who do they think they are? Real Madrid? I mean, it is understandable if Real fans complain if their team under performs, but for Roma fans to complain when their best player is grandpa Totti is utterly ridiculous. They should know their place.

Garcia rejects claims he has lost confidence of Roma players

The Giallorossi have had a disastrous start to 2015, but the coach insists that his players are still behind him as he attempts to end the club's dreadful run of form

Roma coach Rudi Garcia has rejected claims that he has lost the confidence of his players and is desperate for his team to end their disastrous run of form at Verona on Sunday.

The Giallorossi have won just one of their last six Serie A games, and are now 10 points behind leaders Juventus - albeit with a game in hand.

On Thursday, Roma drew 1-1 at home to Feyenoord in the Europa League - meaning they have not won a game at the Stadio Olimpico for three months. This has led to reports that Garcia has lost sections of the dressing room.

“You would have to ask the players that but I see no change in the attitude between us,” Garcia said in his pre-match press conference.

“We have great players and great men in this locker room, but they must know they can resolve the game individually and collectively. We must do everything to win at Verona, because until we put together a run of victories, there is no point talking about first place."

Garcia insists that Roma's poor form is also down to bad luck - citing an offside in the build-up to Feyenoord's equaliser as well as a number of enforced absentees in 2015.

“Hopefully we won’t concede an offside goal every game," he complained.:lol:

“Our choices on the market were excellent, but we didn’t know at the start of December that Gervinho would be in the Africa Cup of Nations until the final, or that Victor Ibarbo would get injured after two days.

“Of course, we are going through a difficult moment. We are much stronger if the players feel the belief around them. I want everyone to make their criticism constructive."

Roma have obtained 45 points from 23 Serie A games, and are five points clear of third-placed Napoli.
