Roma can't keep up their spending without selling. They don't have the financial stability to do it right now. There isn't much as much revenue coming in as Juve do. Plus, as others have said, Juve have been acquiring prospects left and right, and allowing them to get serious playing time with their respective clubs.

All Roma is doing right now is creating a revolving door of players coming in and going out. There is far less stability going on over there, and it's starting to show.

Their window isn't as large as people think, and Juve have already taken steps to help ensure their future
Agree.

I mean, Juve is awesome and all. But when you're such arrogant, self-entitled pricks like Roma who whine that the whole world is set up against them and they are the deserved best team -- and then they eat shit week after week for it by choking every way they can -- how can you not also get a good laugh?

Its called a wonder season for a reason. a squad that finished 7th twice in a row with some additions and a new coach finishing 1st and undefeated was a miracle. You don't count on performing miracles everytime.

Also, we were replacing $#@!ty players with great ones. From Grygera to Licht. From Aquilani to Pirlo and Vidal. From amauri to vucinic.

This time it will be from Tevez to Berardi. From Pirlo to marchiso and from pogba to pereyra or sturaro. From barzagli and chiellini to ogbonna and rugani. From the licht to whoever. Hopefully the pogba money will change that scenario
This is pretty much ridiculous. Why the fuck would we be replacing Pogba with Pereyra or Sturaro. Yes. We'll sell Pogba for near 100 million and won't spend any of it on replacing Pogba, or other players in the team.

Aside from this... Your logic in all your posts is flawed. Roma continually sells top players, and buys prospects. Look at their starting line-up this year, as opposed to last, very different. They sold their best defender Benatia for half of what they said he was worth. They just sold their top scorer from the last 18 months in Destro for 16 million. They are constantly rebuilding.

To start the 2016/17 season in 2 years, when we potentially lose Pirlo, Barzagli, Tevez and Pogba, we'll likely still have:

20 year old Coman (2 full years in the team)
22 year old Rugani (1 year in the team)
22 year old Berardi (1 year in the team)
23 year old Sturaro (18 months in the team)
24 year old Morata (2 years in team)
25 year old Pereyra (2 years in the team)
25 year old Zaza (1 year in the team)
27 year old Neto (1 year in the team
27 year old Asamoah
28 year old Ogbonna
29 year old Vidal
29 year old Cacares
29 year old Bonucci
31 year old Lichtsteiner
32 year old Chiellini
32 year old Padoin

+ whatever players we end up bringing in this coming summer mercato aside from Rugani, Berardi, Zaza. Say a decent Attacking Mid. We'll be losing a Pirlo that isn't even an every game starter for us, and when he's out we don't look worse, but often better with Marchisio playing in his place. We'll be losing Buffon perhaps. Perhaps not yet. But Neto will have been here for a year hopefully, and Leali may be even more ready to step up. We'll be losing Barzagli, but Bonucci and Ogbonna both have made very good strides this year, and look quite a bit better. Rugani has been the best or 2nd best young defender in the entire league this year, and Chiellini will only be 32. The Pogba funds will go into investing in the mid and attack, as will the lost wages off the books of Pogba and Tevez. We will be bringing in, at the very least a top forward, and a top midfielder.

2016/17 CBs Ogbonna, Bonucci, Chiellini, Rugani, Cacares That's by far the best in the league in all likelihood.
2016/17 RB Lichtsteiner, Cacares LB Asamoah, Padoin Not bad, upgrade for a backup for Asamoah likely.

2016/17 Mids Vidal, Marchisio, Pereyra, Sturaro very good, add in a Pogba funded top signing, = best in league

2016/17 Attacking Mid Coman + potential good signing this coming summer mercato = promising

2016/17 Forwards Morata, Berardi, Zaza + top signing to replace Tevez with Pogba funds + Tevez wages off books = Potentially best in the league.

Roma isn't younger, they don't have more promising players coming through the ranks. Pjanic has been awful this year, Strootman looked terrible in his few performances before reinjury and may never be the same. Ninja has been very good, but he's only 1 year younger than Vidal.

They lose Totti. They lose De Sanctis. De Rossi will be 33. Maicon will be gone. Castan may never be the same, and will be almost 30. Manolas looks good.

Their attack. Iturbe is injured and has been a massive flop. Ljajic still hasn't shown he can be a star. Gervinho will be 29, and can't finish to save his life. Seydou Doumbia will have been with the team 18 months, but has never played in a top 4 league, he'll be 28.

Florenzi is crap. Mbiwa is crap. Astori is crap. Holebas is decent.

Morata, after half a season here, and mostly sub appearances, is already a better striker than anyone on Roma currently. We'll see about Doumbia.

I don't get how you think us replacing potentially 3 starters in Pogba, Tevez and Buffon, over the next two years, is going to make us go into harsh rebuild. Barzagli hasn't played a game this season and we still have allowed by far the least goals in the league. He's no longer a starter, or at the very least doesn't count as a player it is a problem to replace. Pirlo missed the first month of the season, and significant time last year and we were fantastic without him. Marchisio has already shown he can easily replace him. Stop acting like Evra is the starter, when Asamoah is healthy, he isn't. Lichtsteiner isn't going anywhere, and he won't even be old in 2 years. He has lot's of mileage left. Llorente isn't even a starter anymore. And so on. The 3 big replacements necessary will be for Tevez, Pogba, Buffon.

Roma has to replace full-time starters Totti, De Sanctis, Maicon. De Rossi will be older than everyone left in our team (if we get rid of Pirlo, Tevez, Barzagli, Pogba, Buffon). In reality, we won't be any worse off, or in a bigger rebuild mode than Roma.

Actually, I've come to the scary realization that I get a little more this season out of a Roma failure than I get out of some of Juve victories. :shifty:
Aside from matches in the league against Roma and Napoli, we just sort of expect to win everything. So seeing Roma fail is definitely as enjoyable as many Juve victories over the minnows. That's the problem with dominating this tinpot league. Less joy in victory.

Now if we could start competing seriously in CL, things would be looking brighter for enjoyment.

@Mark

Has the media said anything about the Yanga-Mbiwa elbow that should have been a penalty and red card? Or the Pjanic punch to the ribs on Rui? The papers haven't show anything yet? Roma should be crucified for how favoured they were by the refs.

Lame. If it was Juve, we'd be raped in the media.

From an article on Roma's performance.

Beside limping to their fourth straight draw, their sixth in their last eight league matches, Roma matched a ten year old club record, falling to secure a victory at the Olimpico on four straight occasions, a depth they hadn't reached since 2005.

Great post. Keeping Pogba even longer would be absolutely stellar for us in this league and CL. If we manage a fantastic mercato with the funds we have and build a team to get to the semi's I bet we can convince Pogba to stay.

It all starts in the summer with :beppe: though.
