Roma are doing what they need to do.

They rested their first choice front three (Gervinho-Totti-Iturbe) and still won the game.

Because they got the goal in the first half, they never had to open things up and and take any risks.

A lot of their performance was horrible (lost count of how many times they casually gave away possession) but tactically they took no risks and never looked like conceding a goal.

They also did create a couple of chances themselves and could have won more comfortably.

Given that it was a potentially awkward game (post international break, before CL game, enthusiasm of newly promoted team playing first home game), I don't think you can say much that negative about them winning the game.
Roma is saving themselves for CL. They want dat money.

Empoli deserved a penalty for that Manolas foul, very clear cut.

And  at Roma if they call starting a 38 year old (turns 38 in two weeks) Totti as their first choice CF in CL, having ambitions to get out of the group stage. Seriously. That's pathetic. He's ancient, he's incredibly slow at this point, and will find no space at all with which to work against top clubs like Bayern and ManCity. I can't believe Sabatini was going on about not selling Destro for what he called "big offers", if Destro cannot outperform Destro at this point, he clearly should have been sold for one of those "big offers" and they should have brought in a real forward, because relying on Totti as a primary attacking impetus in CL is hilarious at this point. Talk about delusion. It might work against CSKA, but certainly not against Bayern or ManCity.

And expecting Gervinho (a runner who also disappears against good sides), or Iturbe (unproven) to be capable of winning them games in the CL is equally laughable. That attacking trident is impotent. Look at how well it did against us last year. Bayern and ManCity both have better sides than we do, and Totti is another year older. Of course, they did not have Iturbe last year, but so far, he's shown nothing to suggest he's any better than someone like Ljajic or Florenzi from last season.

RAI: Seeing roma and Juve yesterday they won't go far in the CL but we should reevaluate roma when they'll have their starters.

So Anti-Juve.

It's not like Juve wasn't missing Chiello, Barza, Tevez, Pirlo, Asa. Roma had three starters missing, including Totti, who wouldn't start at 75% of the teams in the CL.

RAI, for what could I see, are a bunch of an unsporty butthurt oldies and Milan/Roma trannies dickriders (I've seen once that all their journalist come from there), so no surprises. Those bitches are destroyed by our recent years of success.

Talking 'bout serious things, if Milan don't have the luck of their first match they'll struggle to take the win. If this was last year's Parma I wouldn't hesitate to place my bet on them winners. But they aren't.
